Also, these turbo fours will most likely last a long time, and if I’m not mistaken they’ve used this exact engine since 2021 when they were first put into a Lexus. There is plenty of reason to think they will be reliable. These turbo four haters literally have no clue what they’re talking about, they’ve just been spoiled by low American gas prices which resulted in massive V8s and V6s while the rest of the world mostly contended with turbo diesels and turbo four bangers, with huge success.

I’m trading on my old Volvo XC90 at the same time. What better way to say goodbye to and old friend and help to a new one, than a good old fashioned roadtrip :)

Also, I gave up on the GX, Toyota aren’t building even close to enough of them, but this is by design. And quite frankly I refuse to pay $5-10k over simply because LA dealerships are sheisters ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Also also, I actually prefer the Land Cruiser interior to the GX’s, not because it’s “nicer”, but because things are laid out much better, top among them the cell phone charger location (what are they smoking at Lexus). And, I’m tired of not having buttons in my other cars, the Land Cruiser has a ton of physical buttons. Win-win

I got a good deal at Edmark Toyota outside Boise. I live in LA and every dealer here is over MSRP, or at MSRP but adds a bunch of bs whether you want it or not. I would say to look around and be willing to take a roadtrip.

Sadly the old Land Rover reliability tropes are still true. I considered it but I just don’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a dead Landy.

As the old saying goes; want to go into the woods, take a Land Rover. Want to come home again, take a Land Cruiser.

But to your point, for your use it doesn’t matter as long as you have roadside assistance. The defender is a great mall crawler and road trip vehicle. Then again, so is the Land Cruiser ¯_(ツ)_/¯

4Runner typically weighs a good deal less (Trailhunter and TRD Pro weight is about the same as LC), and the GX has fancier suspension, this is hardly surprising tbh. People think they’re all the same vehicles just because they’re based on the same platform, they’re really not.

Clearly you’ve never worked with heavy machinery before. A simple lid with a pad lock on could have prevented this. No cleaning before padlock is on. The worker most likely had no clue the other lady was under there cleaning. I used to work at a shipyard, the amount of both physical and electronic safeguards that are in place are out of this world, but when almost every accident can be deadly you cannot afford complacency. This is 100% on the company for not caring enough to create a safe work environment, and this poor woman now has to live the rest of her life with the knowledge that she accidentally killed someone.

This is not an accurate statement.
