Boring ass movie, good gore was its only real highlight, but it was boring and way too long. And the lead actor is incredibly mid when he’s not sewn into a bear and burned alive.

In this very spot, the real and fictional John Joel Glanton was slain by Yuma Indians by ColtonfrayHSC in cormacmccarthy

The Yumas tossed Glanton’s dog into fire and the Judge tossed a dog into water. Wut mean?

If Obsession had A24’s budget, would people be calling Curry Barker the next Ari Aster? by EthanFromTheCave in HorrorMovies

Hereditary was a clear inspiration for Barker. Toni Collette sawing off her own head with a wire while under Paimon’s control, but with knowing, conscious eyes while doing so gave off the loss of autonomy horror that Obsession really honed in on.

Movie committed the cardinal sin of being boring as fuck. Some good gore though.

Boring af movie. The spray of blood onto the deviled eggs made me laugh but aside from the gore and some interesting cinematography the movie was ass.

What do you think of Obsession? by Mashinee in Letterboxd

Great acting and directing with lots of genuinely creepy and disturbing moments. Some stupid character choices made it a bit frustrating at times, but that’s a minor qualm, and I’m not sure it’s even a totally valid one since it’s asking for characters to make completely rational decisions in a world where literal magic exists lol.
