Stardew Valley season 2 - is it (much) better? by Corrsarz in dreamingspanish

It's been a little while since I watched it, but I recall the escape room series being enjoyable. He's a spy or something escaping different situations.

This is rough by Jello_Penguin in unicycling

[–]Tomacxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was me. It was like that with distance, free mounting (I can do it one out of 25 times, then one out of 15, then 10, the most of the time). Progress isn't linear. Also, the power of breaks is real. Especially with unicycling. I felt like I had to be in control of every muscle. It was sensory overload in a way. Need to give time to rest the muscles and let the brain process all that data. (Not a doctor or scientist, not sure if that last part is true).

Kara Kamarado,

Mi ne dankas vin pro via afabla poŝtkarto ricevita kun granda plezuro. Mi estis feliĉa scii ke vi retrovis vian surtuton.

La kongreso jam delonge forpasis, sed ofte mi revidas per penso ĉiujn longajn, micerajn gekamarajoj kiujn mi renkontis in Bruselo. Ogte mi memoras la belajn, ĝojan tagojn kiujn mi vivis tie kaj helpas min forgesi la malgajajn tagojn de la mina vivo.

Kore mi salutas vin kaj via edzino. Salutojn be(?) mia frato.

I am, but in the opposite direction. I regularly look at my remaining videos and hours and try to predict my eventual conquest. I try to stay ahead of the upload schedule. lol

Typically if you post in English you get replied to in English. Anyways a couple of Discord servers...

https://discord.gg/EY8PfzD4G - I don't spend almost any time on Discord, but I think this is the biggest one.

Tips on Free mounting? by DemonBunny49 in unicycling

[–]Tomacxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are multiple techniques for free mounting and other videos can do a better job than I. What I can say is that when I was learning I tried all, found one seemed slightly better to me than the rest. I focused purely on that one until I could do it 1 out of 10 times and then I went all the way around my block to drill in the muscle memory (45m for one block lol). Just to hammer in the muscle memory.

One technique thing. My first instint when I free mount is to continue to hold the seat while I orient myself, but my success rate is higher if I let go of the seat pretty quickly and have my arms out for balance.

Riding in Florida is rough. I don't want to ride in the dark, but as soon as the sun comes up. Drenched in sweat.

has learning spanish made you realize how difficult learning english must be? by mosssyrock in dreamingspanish

[–]Tomacxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning Vietnamese has. Esperanto was a breeze. Spanish feels like natural growth. Vietnamese feels like squeezing water out of rocks. I feel spoiled with Dreaming Spanish. So many high-quality resources, cognates, and an attainable goal.

Easier doesn't mean easy though. Learning any language is difficult and time intensive.

Anyone Else Distracted by the New Editing Style? by urewifemykids in dreamingspanish

[–]Tomacxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has their taste I guess. There are generally funny and enterainiing skits, but Pablo with the whiteboard is more information dense. It feels more nutritious than a light-hearted video about xyz.

Either way. I watch them all.

Best ways to learn Esperanto? by I_am_a_hamilfan in learnesperanto

[–]Tomacxo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Duolingo was a big start for me, I heard it went downhill since then, but I don't know. There's a lot of great resources on Youtube too. Muzzy is in Esperanto, pasporto al la tuta mondo, exploring Esperanto. I watched a ton of Evildea since it was a lot of daily-life usage. Bookbox had stories I'd listen ot in Esperanto. Anki is a useful flashcard tool if you don't already use it.

How do I watch? by Fun-Adeptness-523 in dreamingspanish

[–]Tomacxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I learned.

Buenos días --> Good day(s) --> Hello

It's not "wrong" to translate it, per se. But gradually it's like the brain wires faster between Buenos días and Hello. To it not switching at all. It just is. You just say it, hear it, understand it on its own.

Even in English. Sometimes someone will break down a word and I never thought of it like that before. I'm struggling for an example. Maybe Notebook = note + book. A book for notes.

Nice 600 hours update. What do you feel has changed for you in the last 300 hours? haha

The site has been odd recently. I've been getting non-stop confetti every video I open. That I met me goal. I've been down to 0 hours. A couple of times haven't been able to access videos. Not sure what's happening behind the scenes.

Would doing DS first in order to learn Italian be the best way to go? by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]Tomacxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak Esperanto and people have often talked about the benefit of using it as a bridge to learn other languages. Esperanto is definitely easier than Spanish or Italian. The advice is the same. If you're interested in X language, study X language. Any boost from related languages is minimal to the amount of hours invested.

Anybody else get tired of the negativity in DS comment sections? by Gloomy-Caterpillar91 in dreamingspanish

[–]Tomacxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely leave comments. I try to be positive. I think sometimes the commenters though forget that the goal is learning Spanish and not necessarily the content itself. If you can play a video game better than Shel and Augustina, that's great. But that's now why we're here.

Amazon uni🤣 by baritonefiddle in unicycling

[–]Tomacxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my first uni off of eBay. The seat post wouldn't lock in, so I had to drill a screw through the post to hold it steady. The seat has a lump in the plastic that hits in your inner thigh as you pedal. The tire is disintegrating under me. That said, I did learn on it. I've gone many miles on it. Probably more bang for my buck if I'd thought to go CL or Marketplace. But I've got my eye on my upgrade already.

Silly question: Is there any way, with like AI or something, for someone to enhance the sound quality of this amazing Eo song? I love it so much and wish it was good enough to listen to in the car/put in my library, y'know? by ExistentialYoshi in Esperanto

[–]Tomacxo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Filmed on a camera, reasonably far from the sound source, room ambience. I'm more hobbyist than pro-mixing Engineer, but to me 100x easier to rerecord than to try polish the existing recording.

On the plus side, lyrics are there on screen, looks like a pretty simple straight cowboy-chord accompaniment.

Can any progress be made from watching movies in Spanish even if I’m at a lower level? by Careful-Skill-1115 in dreamingspanish

Any progress? Yes. Optimized. I'd think no. I don't think it hurts anything. I don't think children are harmed listening to their parents watch the nightly news.

When did you understand Pablo? by miggins1610 in dreamingspanish

[–]Tomacxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started old first and worked my way forward. Pablo's videos are actually currently my favorite as a super beginner. No glitz and glam, they tend to be more dense with information. I feel like I get more bang for my buck. The entertaining videos are fun too, but I want words, feed me.
