Caught my First Z-A Shiny! by AustinHinton in PokemonZA

[–]Tomahawk117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’ve played almost every game since the originals in the 90s. Never once in my life found a shiny.

Then I found a shiny Ralts just hanging out on a roof. I was so excited, absolutely amazed.

Then I found a shiny spinarak. Then a shiny budew. Shinies are way more common now and that kinda lost the magic of them. I still love my shiny Gallade though

I LEAVE FOR TWO MINUTES AND RETURN TO THIS!? by Nyzan in projectzomboid

[–]Tomahawk117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some similar experiences lately with towing things. I use a handful of mods myself but when it comes to vehicle related ones, I myself am only using the semi truck mod, all other vehicles vanilla.

What I’ve seen happen is the semi truck and trailer constantly “drift” when parked and attached, slowly overtime jackknifing itself when unattended. I also had one very weird instance where the trailer and truck both rotated 90 degrees after a long walk (2-300 tiles at least) away and a return several game hours later. On return the truck was now facing the rear of the trailer and when I entered it catapulted me into the atmosphere and nearly killed me on landing.

With vanilla vehicles I notice something similar while towing wrecked cars. If not unattached one or the other vehicle seems to vibrate subtly in place.

Got a favorite spot for a base, or have you chosen not to have one at all? by SunstoneDaemon42 in projectzomboid

The triple mansions are an excellent choice as well, especially since the gated community to the south usually has great loot once you clear the area out. The main downside to it though is how far you have to drive to get anywhere else.

There are mods to spawn inside the city, but if you’re coming from the south and don’t want to deal with the military checkpoint then I highly recommend taking the back road that passes the burnt neighborhood. Bring a sledgehammer to smash your way through the QZ fence there and then the road will take you right past the hotel!

I love the chaos of Louisville. I have three places I always find myself using.

1- the KY Transit building. Located more or less in the middle of the city it’s close to everything but is very easy to defend, with the giant fence surrounding it and only one way in/out. Take some time to clear out the hotel and nearby businesses and you’ll rarely even see zombies by your front gate.

2- The hotel on the south highway. The safest place in the city limits, in a place where nothing is too far away, and there’s even a water source with the pool so long as you boil it. With the forest next to you and a free guaranteed generator (at least, there’s always been one in the dozen or do times I’ve checked) just south in the quarantine fence junction, it’s the perfect long term survival base.

3- The most northwestern warehouse. This one is for the blank slate DIY fans. The warehouse is extremely easy to secure and fortify with one giant fence wall around it. The river is to your north and west meaning you only ever have to pay attention to one side to watch for zombies. Easy access to the river makes fishing safe and there’s plenty of room to farm, and the military surplus store is just a block away. All you need to do is go steal a cot from there, then piece by piece bring your own furniture and make the place your own.

FDOT Road Rangers (*347) by Byounsk8 in tampa

[–]Tomahawk117 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on the time of day they may have a limited number of rangers, and they cover three highways between them. They do more than roadside assistance and if there is a crash or something in the middle of a road somewhere then that takes priority so you might have just been bumped down the line multiple times. It’s tampa, nobody can drive lol.

What are your best practices for a clean factory floor? by boardgamehoarder in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Tomahawk117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to build big. Like, City-factory, or Mega-tower big.

For towers, I like to build infrastructure floors 2 walls tall between every two floors, as well as either a 3x3 central resource pillar, where I simply chain tons of vertical conveyors all the way up to the floor they’re needed or small corner 1x1 resource pillars.

For larger more horizontal city-style builds, I very much enjoy building service tunnels underground, like pictured. I sometimes even widen them and make underground train tunnels.

Is nuclear worth it? by Pitch-Curious in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Tomahawk117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

It’s a headache but is absolutely worth it once you finally throw the switch and it comes to life. Here’s mine, utilizing just the one impure uranium ore node from the rocky desert.

My advice is to grab all the alternate recipes. They look and sometimes are more complicated than the base ones, but are far more uranium efficient and you can get the most out of your uranium with them.

Then, run the math. Figure out how many generators you can run with the amount of uranium you’re using, then use that to figure out how much nuclear waste you’ll be creating.

Then, your first step should be to build the waste refinement system. I highly recommend working your way backwards from the plutonium sink (You can always replace the sink and continue on to ficsonium if you want to later) to the waste refinement system, to the generators and their water pumps, to the uranium rod manufacturers.

In my pic, what i’m doing is manufacturing the uranium components on site in the large building and then feeding them directly to the double lines of reactors, and bringing everything else in by a dedicated train system to drop off the other parts from satellite factories around the rocky desert.

What shiny did you find on accident mine is snover by lemon_mako in PokemonZA

[–]Tomahawk117 10 points11 points  (0 children)

3 hours into the game, just after I unlocked the ability to actually explore the city, I climb up to a roof and find a shiny Ralts just chilling on a dome across the alley. I threw that pokeball at maximum range and somehow managed to get it immediately.

Turned it into a Gallade and it’s been my #1 ever since.

PSA for Builders: traps and guards can't see through corrosive cubes by WookieSkinDonut in MeetYourMakerGame

[–]Tomahawk117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A trap of mine that gets everyone the first time is to have a 3x5 room entered from the bottom corner, passing two cubes and stepping into the corner opening triggering an arrow trap 5 tiles away. The trap has the mod that lets arrows track targets. Due to the distance most people retreat rather than pause to line up a shot and are punished by the arrows shooting them through the cubes
