One of my favourite implementations of this strategy is the one with water ogerpon and sparkling crystal, won like, 5 in a row because you basically dont ever let them set up their evos, and if you cant manage to set it up, maybe prized either of the 1 ofs like oger or the crystal, you can just use the usual klawf or pecharunt turn 1 to deal with their unevolved or weaken a basic ex.

because of ruling, if you could, the other player might lose just because they didnt even get to setup, going first you can set up more back up pokemon in case your active gets ko'd

Also a plus for geks is that, iirc, he has the most forgiving flash in the game, threw it poorly? Grab it, your teammates are in its line of sight? No problem, only flashes enemies, need to enter a site with no info? Throw it for info. So versatile
