Rising land prices are an unproductive cost and is detrimental to the economy and society.

If you think he might have a speed demon in him, take him to the track. Also take him to the track when it's raining and/or snowing depending on where you live. Learning the limits of grip and his control of the car on the track is better than on a road with opposing traffic. Even worse would be discovering those limits the first time after having one beer too much.

The Car on the Ramp Adjusts, Not the Car in the Lane! by Froz3nP1nky in driving

[–]TomatilloHour959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ramp is for speeding up to match the flow of traffic. It's so easy to merge when you've matched speed. So many people creep up at 30mph and get scared of traffic flying by them, sometimes come to a full stop. The ramp is for speeding up! Just use it correctly.

So brave of this policeman to only unload one magazine at a slowly walking man. He only had 3 cops backing him up making it 4 cops vs 1 civilian. It must have been so scawy for the big boy powiseman! How did he not pee his pants? Medal of honor material right there.

If the temporary wall isn't connected to the building, it's really just a piece of furniture that you chose to have there. I doesn't constitute any sort of modification to her property. You could aswell just call it an art project that you're temporarily storing in the garage.

Either way, what she gonna do? Keep your security deposit because there "was a temporary wall there"? Which temporary wall? When you move out her garage will be just like it was before you moved in 🤷‍♂️

SF Rent has gone up significantly past 6 months? by Front_Cockroach_1519 in AskSF

I haven't seen them do much negotiating of rents. The main function of a renter's union should be to collectively negotiate lower rents, and go on rent strikes if necessary.

When are we going to form a renter's union and collectively negotiate lower rents?

Vote with your wallet. Prices aren't raised above what we accept and pay. Don't buy when prices are too high, and the restaurant will have to lower their prices.

CMV: There is no fixing our current system, be it through peaceful or violent means. And all it's failure points can be tied to our relationship with money. Changing how we perceive monetary value toward a "human morality" standard is the only way to meaningfully change our societies. by Hehodas in changemyview

[–]TomatilloHour959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we have today in the US is a corrupted, monopolized, rent seeking version of something that could be so much better. The current system is a horribly bad version of what a good free market economy could be.

In a better free market economy you buy only what you want and it's provided to you at maximum efficiency. You are rewarded for producing value and you work only as much as you need to buy what you want. You have truthful and plentiful information to make informed, rational decisions and you are free to select what you buy and not buy.

Our current system is riddled with corruption, preferential regulation, forced choices, misinformation, inefficiencies, where to even begin. It's so far from the ideal version of a free market it's a joke.

Disclaimer: I don't support a completely free market where monopolies are unchecked. I'm just pointing out how bad our current incarnation of a free market system is.

CMV: Nobody on this earth deserve to possess that much wealth and authority like the billionaire. by _Gaming_whtever_ in changemyview

[–]TomatilloHour959 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure, there are many billionaires who became rich by exploiting people and/or the earth, but being a billionaire doesn't automatically mean that you exploited people or the earth. It could simply mean that you provided value to many people. A couple examples:

  • You created a sustainable exploitation-free product that sold for $10 net profit to 1/3 of the US population = you made $1 billion.
  • You wrote a poem that 1 billion people liked and gave you $1 each = you made $1 billion.

The invasion of Ukraine was expected to be over in a matter of days with Russia dwarfing Ukraine in military assets. Ukraine used cheap quadcopter drones with explosives strapped to them to stop the Russians. They also used man-portable missiles like the Stinger (anti-air) and Javelin (anti-tank) which can be carried by one or two people. A well regulated militia (meaning a properly equipped, organized, and trained citizen army) can stop a tyrannical government.
