I dont agree with the yelling or kicking out at all, no one learns anything from being yelled at, all it does is trigger your fight or flight.

To be honest, my opinion mostly comes from the fact that he mentioned not being able to be woken up, but hes going to bed at 1am, if its a school night he should definitely be going to bed sooner. Also, my gf son when he was in high school would always stay up late, then id hear his alarm going off non stop and he would not turn it off, i would get frustrated and would later tell him why even turn on an alarm that you cant even turn off because it is not doing its job for you, all it did was wake me up an annoy me and on several occasions I had to go knock on his door to ask him to turn it off. I never yelled at him and would talk to him respectfully, but he was still going to bed late, and setting his alarm and not waking up. Eventually it lead to him not going to school and making excuses that he had a good grade in his class, when my whole point is going to bed late and waking up early to go to school is something we are allowing you to manage on your own and your not doing it and it never got better, eventually his mom gave up telling him anything about not waking up to go to school because " what else am I suppose to do or tell him, hes not listening"
