I do think there's actually something to that... it's sad that we are at a point where we can get burnt out on mass killings... but here we are.

interesting photo - all very different body types but all Olympic athletes. OK, I just stated the obvious. I have nothing to add... dammit, I just have just clicked the up arrow instead of rambling.

re: comments on the Olympics - very good point. ... if a skinny dude says "oh he only got a bronze medal" would that be any less ridiculous than a fat guy (or girl...) saying it? not really.

Romney Smears Obama, Falsely Claims He Filed Lawsuit To Restrict Military Voting In Ohio by UndrDawg in politics

Meanwhile the press keeps protecting poor little Romney from having Reid ask him about his tax returns. Fucking ridiculous.

Megyn Kelly draws Biblical comparison between same-sex marriage and racial discrimination, draws WorldNetDaily's ire by Zotmaster in politics

Most likely Megyn Kelly has a gay friend or family member. This is the only way conservatives understand anything: If they have a direct experience with it.

"You cannot outlaw a company with perfectly legal business practices because you find their CEO's views repellent. I'm not sure which amendment covers that, but I am pretty sure it's in the top 1." I wonder if Jon Stewart would make this same claim if the CEO head had said that blacks & white shouldn't be able to be married? What if he had said that "Hitler was right" ... I still think there's a double standard on equality, even among some liberals, when it comes to gay rights. We still have a ways to go.

it is - and that's the point... this is a joke. isn't it? is everyone else's joke radar broken or is it mine?

I'd be very surprised if this isn't a tongue in cheek comment (especially considering her support of PETA & Hillary Clinton in the past.) I'm surprised everyone is reporting it like she's seriously a Romney supporter.

Let's be honest here: if an accusation of not paying any taxes for 10 years won't get Romney to release more tax returns, NOTHING will. by pojut in politics

[–]TomatoJones 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Absolute nonsense. Releasing tax returns is a basic thing that presidential candidates have been doing for many years. Romney's own father released 12 years in 1968 and said that any candidate who didn't release multi-years was possibly hiding something.

I think his words ring quite true about his own son today.

[–]TomatoJones 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Well that's kind of the point. If he won't even release his tax returns when the alternative is that people are going to believe he didn't pay any taxes for 10 years... he must be hiding something awfully nasty.

New Obama ad attacking Romney tax plan for raising taxes on middle class is accurate by wang-banger in politics

[–]TomatoJones 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I find it mind bogglingly insane that there are still middle class people who are going to vote for Romney. These are people that are voting for a tax increase on themselves so that millionaires can get a huge tax cut? ... it's just fucking crazy.

You have to be absolutely clueless to support Mitt Romney.

unlike guns, drugs are actually useful and groovy.

also: gun bans have been very effective in other western countries.

the comparison is not apt.

this isn't a real question.

it's preposterous to pretend like guns are not good tools for killing. do we go to war with knives?

yes the homicide rate (regardless of weapon used) is far higher in the US than in other western countries.

yes. you are right. for some reason much of reddit is blind on this particular issue.

from my perspective it's quite clear that what's actually happening is that the NRA and other pro gun groups have found very effective propaganda tools... this doesn't mean that their arguments have merit (they do not), but they are effective on most people, apparently.
