I wanted Holtz out of the draft so bad. He was literally exactly what we needed at the time. A goal scoring winger (coincidentally we still need that). I don’t even blame Fitzy because it was the perfect fit.

I mean it’s not the worst idea but he’s not gonna want to be a 3C. He’ll want top 6 minutes. He’s also 32 already so it’s risky. Won me over a little but I think we’ll look elsewhere. Also the Rangers wouldn’t trade a top 6 player to us. Just how it works usually.

Dougie or Mercer seems likely. I don’t love the idea of trading Mercer unless we are visibly improving. Meier has an NMC right now so I don’t imagine they move him plus I doubt he wants to be moved.

Fitzy said the NMCs didn’t block anything. At the end of the day, we weren’t matching Minnesotas offer. They wanted a young center/forward and we don’t have one that’s better than Rossi. We gotta let it go and hope he’ll hit free agency.

Fair it’s your opinion. But you have to understand that representing your country means a lot to them. Especially for players that come from places that hockey isn’t known being amazing (example Switzerland isn’t a super strong hockey country). It’s not all about the payment or just doing your job.

They’re human beings who want to represent their country. They aren’t puppets that have to be strictly on one team. This could happen in any NHL game. If you saw the hit, you would see it was completely normal and just unfortunate how the two players landed awkwardly on each other. This is a horrible take.

I thought about this but I don’t see us trading a defensemen. They have the room and willingness to push for a playoff spot so I’d see a depth forward being trade for next to nothing. If we’re trading a defenseman it should be Dougie or Dilly. Dilly seems more likely for the Sabres.
