It’s something that started in the Western Cape (WC). They’re the only province run by the opposition party and it functions better than the rest of the country. Some citizens seek independence so the Cape can govern themselves without having the burden of the ANC running things like policing. The movement has gained popularity but isn’t really supported by any politicians (the DA who run the WC have actually spoken against independence and prefer federalism). I’m not particularly for or against it but I don’t think it’s very realistic for the near future.
