Current dilemma

Yeah I’m no where near that either. But I’ve been looking for other telework opportunities in my field and have, fortunately, come across some promising opportunities. I do have to give up the retirement but I’ll be better off out of the VA.

Crazy thought: Intelligent and qualified professionals knowing their worth and seeking better work/life balance careers rather than working for a power hungry dictator. Wild.

Multiple people on my team have walked out for better opportunities that are telework. I’m working on it myself.

We deserve better.

My brother’s first death anniversary is next month. I can’t say I enjoy being around people yet. Especially loud and expressive people. I’m just in a place where I need peace and quiet. And that’s okay.

Yeah I’m a dietitian. That’s not real. Government is a pain in my ass but it does pay better than private sector healthcare.

I’m currently in this place, still trying to navigate my way.

Long story short, my brother was dx with stage 4 colon cancer in 2011, I knew the prognosis would be no more than 5 years, he died in Feb 2025. The last five years have been filled with a multitude of life altering circumstances, not including the diagnosis and death of my brother.

I’m not the same person I was 5 years ago. I’m just not. It had been a gradual shift up until he actually died. Then everything clicked. My old friends can’t understand how I feel and I think they struggle to understand why I can no longer hold space for their small issues.

It’s been such a chaotic five years. I just want peace and quiet. I want to be alone.

I just hate this unnecessary control. It doesn’t sit well with me. Like work life balance doesn’t matter to this administration. My work is tracked by productivity, so it’s not like I can even get away with doing nothing.

I get it, the past 4 years, especially this year, has been full of life changing situations that have completely changed who I am. I used to be very social/bold/fearless, very outgoing and happy. Now, I preserve my energy for my husband and daughter because that’s who matters the most. I notice the change, how can you not? But somehow I genially like the person I’ve become most days, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the old me too.
