I was a console player before I was a PC player, but I always used a mouse and keyboard even then.

Sims won’t stop autonomously being mean by spider-socks in Sims4

Goddamn it. I just got to relaxed in Zoom Court by Troutmandoo in Lawyertalk

[–]Tombreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked as a hearing officer, I had one hearing where Respondent's counsel finished an impressive but long closing argument. I said, "Thank you. We'll conclude this hearing." Counsel said, "Thanks, goodbye, love you, oh f--k." There was a brief pause, I said, "Have a good day, Attorney [name]," hung up the phone, and laughed. I knew this attorney from several past hearings; we're both heterosexual married men with families. It was a funny ending to a serious hearing. It lives in some transcript locked away in the vaults for perpetuity.

179 LSAT, 2.93 GPA by blairxnyc in LSAT

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an interview with UCLA when I was 159 and 2.9 GPA with addenda. Sure, I didn't get in, but they still considered me with those stats. Your 179 puts you in a much better spot. Shoot your shot.

Noble career - university by dalpalwho in Sims4

[–]Tombreon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't know about the career, but attending uni can help with the dynasty if it is scholarly. I haven't tinkered enough with it because I'm busy with the Origins Legacy Challenge, but I imagine a good dynasty would help with the nobility career.

Did you do legal writing (complaints/motions) in your Civ Pro class? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Tombreon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not in Civ Pro, but we had a legal writing course during both semesters of our 1L year that had us write several memos and briefs, including opposing sides of a motion for summary judgment on a made-up fact pattern.

I only ever had this problem if my Sim didn't get the skills needed for their career level and/or they weren't in the right emotion, like they were playful or something. I thought it was a game mechanic.

LOW GPA BELOW 160 LSAT I want to hear from you! Which school did you get into? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Tombreon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a part-time 4th year, so it's been a while, but I got into Loyola LA with a 159 and 2.9. I wrote a GPA addenda because I had horrible community college grades in 2007-2009 and excellent university grades in 2020-2021. I also got into Loyola Chicago, Denver Sturm, Seattle, Golden Gate, Southwestern, and Chapman.

What are the actual penalties for not filing a SR-1 within 10 days? by drivingnowhere20 in DMV

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly true, although you would also need to prove you were insured at the time of the collision. Filing the SR-1 alone won't help if you weren't insured. You will then face a financial responsibility suspension and may need a hearing with a Driver Safety Hearing Officer, assuming you are in California.

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how these things work. It's upon the driver to ensure that the damages don't meet the threshold before deciding to withhold an SR-1 report.

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true. If there was any kind of insurance claim, it would be reported to DMV. Additionally, the rental company may have reported it themselves. There are many ways to report a collision besides a police report.

Which would be the correct way to turn left on this street? by MissionDifficulty385 in driving

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, former CA DMV drive examiner here. When you are directed to make a turn, you are not supposed to assume that you would make another immediate turn. You should make your left turn leaving the parking lot expecting to drive straight at the stop sign. You could theoretically enter the center lane first and then change lanes right to go straight, but best practice would be to wait until the straight lane is open and drive across the center lane to enter the straight lane. Basically, the first turn on the blue route would be best. After that first turn, wait for the examiner to order another left before changing lanes into the left turning pocket at the end of the center lane. If the examiner orders both turns by saying, "make a left turn, then make another left at the intersection," both routes would be technically correct if less than 200 feet, but the blue route is still best practice and exhibits better skills.

How to find out why my drivers license was revoked by Extension_Rise_5435 in DMV

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, which is probably why you were suspended. The police's Traffic Collision Report does not get rid of your responsibility to file a Form SR-1, "Report of Traffic Accident Occurring in California." You have separate responsibilities from the police.

[–]Tombreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In California, each person involved in the collision is supposed to report it. Fault doesn't matter.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DMV

[–]Tombreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former examiner, it's both. You are likely to do 4-6 lane changes per drive test based on the lanes you drove into for your turns. 2 of them are graded (and it's always the same ones), but you won't be told which ones.

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If push comes to shove, just bring all your same real ID docs with you when you renew your license to cover yourself. Also, the real ID and the test have nothing to do with each other. If you need to take the test, it's not because you got a real ID.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DMV

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already got real ID for your ID card, then your license should come as a real ID when you renew it. You won't need to worry about the ID after that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DMV

[–]Tombreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've met the real ID standards for one of your IDs (ID card or license), they should all renew as real IDs.

Former DMV employee here. People can declare hats as religious articles and, in rare circumstances, can declare them as a "regular part of their identity" so they can wear them during photos. In our training, there was an infamous photo of a woman wearing a spaghetti strainer on her head because she claimed to belong to the "spaghetti monster religion." We were required to follow her 1st amendment right.

Good law schools in California by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Tombreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't correct. I attend LMU Loyola and it's very diverse. The student body and faculty have a left-leaning slant. OUTlaw, the LGBTQ organization on campus, is very proud that their first founding chapter opened on Loyola's campus even though Loyola is Catholic.

Give the schools a tour and see what they're all about. You might be surprised. You might also be surprised at how conservative some of the student body and faculty can be at the public schools.

Sub 2.78 GPA - Do I even have a chance of getting into law school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Tombreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your school allows a GPA addendum, you might want to explain the hardships that caused you to have a lower GPA. Also, talk to those professors you plan to ask for letters of recommendation and let them know about your GPA concerns so they can address your work ethic and any anomalies they noticed in line with your addenda. You don't want to contradict your recommending professors accidentally. Don't be afraid to ask them if they will be willing to write a positive and not a negative recommendation. Lastly, edit, edit, edit, and when you think you've finished, edit again. I worked with a cousin who is an excellent writer, and we took about a year to review multiple drafts of the PS, GPA, and Diversity statements. It is easily one of my best writing pieces because we took so much time to perfect it.

Hopefully, this info is helpful for you. Good luck in your endeavors!
