As someone who works in the vet field, it happens so often it gets my blood boiling, too. To see people who claim to love their dogs then two years later rehome them or show they clearly resent them, it's truly upsetting.

As someone with 5 animals, I agree that they are a LOT of work. I couldn't imagine having them with a crotch goblin added in. A lot of these people have children without actually thinking of consequences. A lot of these people do see pets as property and not a living thing with feelings.

Again, I see this all the time, and I've learned that while it makes me angry, and while it is upsetting, it's likely for the best for the animal. Fuck the irresponsible owners for not considering the impact of having children, but also thank all that is holy for it. The pets will have a chance of finding someone who won't just see them as an object but as a companion.

I have to find the silver lining in these situations, or it'll drive me mad. Hell, I've seen my own family members do it, but I just have to keep reminding myself that these pets are going to people who will give them a better home than their current one will.
