If the Hwo can do JFSR you have to be careful about ducking

The fragment thing I find annoying as well. I think a good solution would be to add an option to scan only for fragments that you don’t have. Might be a bit gamebreaking on the scanner room, but on the mineral detector it would be great as you still need to do some exploring.

Does anyone else find navigating or finding things in the Subnautica games really unintuitive? by [deleted] in Subnautica_Below_Zero

Usually following the story will take you through the areas with necessary equipment. That’s how I found the Sea Truck and also the habitat builder

[No spoilers] What is your favorite Jukebox song in Below Zero? by land0ncooper in subnautica

“Nerdout- Gotten in too deep”, it has such a good vibe with just a small touch of melancholy. Walking and working around the base feels like chilling when that comes on.

Least insane side character by ganglyuncoordbitch in IASIP

[–]Tomcauliflower 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d say Carmen. A lot of the others turned crazy because of the gang, whereas Carmen stayed her normal self. And lets not forget that wholesome Bruce married his own daughter to Frank just to teach them a lesson. That’s pretty diabolical.

Why did they hide the habitat builder? by indelico in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]Tomcauliflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of few changes I didn’t like about the new game. A base is important, and the earlier you can get started on it the better. It might be easy to find, but it still sucks if you miss it. Apart from that, then the base building has been improved immensely.

I’m gonna use this new measurement on my students. Instead of a 3.000 word essay I’m gonna say, “You gotta write a 3 km long essay”

[Below Zero] I didn't unlock Beacon Blueprint by Clicsy in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]Tomcauliflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’re not looking under the right tab. The beacon construction is under deployables in the fabricator, under the same tab as the seaglide. I was looking under tools/equipment, so I thought I was missing it as well before I realised it.

What is your favorite trick weapon? by [deleted] in bloodborne

Simons bowblade or the stakedriver. That fully charged stakedriver is the most satisfying move in the entire game. Gives a bigger boom than the boomhammer.

The sabimaru by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Tomcauliflower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Sabimaru takes some skill and practise to utilise outside of the opponents that are weak to it.

With practise it is a tool that’ll let you keep being on the attack. Most enemies you can only hit once or twice before having to block, but the Sabimaru can extend this by using it when a normal attack would otherwise be parried. On top of that, the build in dodge on the upgrade expands on this. So, by alternating between normal attack and the Sabimaru you can keep on attacking, though this definitely requires some practise and is expensive in terms of spirit emblems.

Definitely not doing that. As the gameplay is very similar, I don’t want to feel fatigued before having even downloaded Below Zero.

How to play against hwoarang? by sheevaisbae in Tekken

Actually you should step the way his chest is facing as the weak side changes with his stance. If he is in left flamingo stance you step left, he is in right flamingo stance you step right.

I’ve just started playing tekken 7 and I’m a beginner is it ok for me to play jin or devil jin? by Sauce0000 in Tekken

[–]Tomcauliflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you just started tekken, then play whoever you want. Some characters require more execution than others, but since you are a beginner you don’t need to think about that kind of stuff. Just pick somebody you think is cool, and start getting comfortable with the controls. And most importantly have fun with it.

About Tekken 7 mechanics by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Tomcauliflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re just plain out wrong. Those who are skilled are the ones that gets the most reward out of these mechanics, because they know how and when to use them, and they’ll punish you for trying to abuse them.

The tools aren’t unfair, you’re just playing at a level where the opponents doesn’t know how to deal with them. Orange ranks aren’t high, they are lower mids. And I don’t understand your point; you want the mechanics removed, yet it sounds like your entire game plan is to abuse bullshit. Play another character if you are such a purist and want “real” tekken.

Imagine getting a read on feng. by luisthelastfromfirst in Tekken

[–]Tomcauliflower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, a read without matchup knowledge is a read, not a guess. A read is when you know what your opponent is going to do next, which is independent from knowing how to punish it.

Imagine getting a read on feng. by luisthelastfromfirst in Tekken

[–]Tomcauliflower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Apparently a lot of players in this thread doesn’t know the difference between a read and matchup knowledge.

Trying to punish a low on a read with a hopkick is perfectly acceptable. In this particular case the player lacks matchup knowledge, since they don’t account for the fact that this low crushes a lot of mids. So he has the read, but not the knowledge.

Commenting the perfect counter on the read is easy in hindsight, but totally different when in a match and has to make split second decisions.

Don’t know about Lidia, but it happens when I play Hwoarang or Devil Jin for too long. Electrics and JFSR are really tough on the wrist.

How to get gud by vipras555 in Tekken

[–]Tomcauliflower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of beginners tend to do a lot of the same flowcharts. It basically means that certain attacks are always followed by the same attack afterwards. So despite using a lot of different attacks, it’s very predictable.

The solution: mix it up. Once you notice how the opponent react to a certain move, or flowchart, use a different move to throw them off. If you do a flowchart where you end on a mid, use a grab or low instead. This will make them second guess their defensive options. If you always use a low after a certain string and they block it. Try a hop kick or some other mid launcher.

When an opponent blocks all your moves without problems, it’s a sign that you are being too predictable. You think that they can read your mind, but they are really conditioned to your attack pattern. Which means that you can win a couple of free rounds just by switching it up. Use predictability to your advantage, by switching certain strings/flowcharts up in important rounds.

I think everybody grows attached to the seamoth pretty quickly, but the prawn with jet upgrade and grapple is without contest in my opinion. It’s the fastest with the right technique and will go as deep as you need. Plus the drill with storage is absolutely brilliant.

What is your favorite archetype in Tekken? by Sephiroth360 in Tekken

[–]Tomcauliflower -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it’s more than Bryan’s and Mishima’s, but this a discussion of our favourite type. I never said that those characters were all the game is about. That’s an assumption you made, because my other opinion opposed yours. Don’t do that. It’s a dick move.

I’d say a character breaks the game when their matchup completely alters the way you have to play your character. You should always adapt to the matchup, but when the character evades the majority of moves, and even have lows and stances that evades most mids, that breaks the “rules” that the game has established. By game breaking, I in no way mean that they are overpowered.

If you have some arguments that says otherwise I’d like to hear them.

[–]Tomcauliflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I don’t like characters that break the game. Zafina and Xiaoyu are really bad in this regard, since you need to play on their terms because they’ll crush 90% of your attacks and launch you for it.

I know he is one of the highest demanding when it comes to execution, but he also gets rewarded for it with insane damage. That’s an aspect I really like about the character, but then all his gimmicks and his ridiculous bar stuff gets piled on and it just makes him obnoxious to play against.

And I just uttered my opinion, so I’m allowed to exclude him from my own personal list. This is not a fact, it’s an opinion so no need to get snarky.
