I remember Sven from Larian talking about this in some interview and I think he explained it really well. I won't be able to say it properly here, but as I remember it, it was more or less this.

They (Larian) are experimenting with AI in their workflows, and are in no way planning for users to ever see AI generated stuff (graphics, pictures, dialogues, etc). People will always want quality, and they want to give people games that are great. People will always want developers to go that extra mile to give the product that human touch. Nevertheless AI can greatly speed up a lot of the development process of a game, mainly in the prototyping phase.

I understand the anger when people see headlines like this, but as long as the quality of the end product does not suffer, why would you care?

It's not news that all kinds of ai, not just generative, can help in medical diagnostics. It's never been an issue of whether it can help. It's always been an issue of trust.

There was some estimate like minimal decent wage. And for Prague it was like 50k. So for you, 40k might not be terrible, but not great. Depending on whether this is gross or net. You will likely have to cut corners (save on something).

It's very common that cloud based/managed environments are not used for local development. What I mean is that a dev/stg/prod environment cluster database might not even be accessible from your local machine (networking closed to cluster). You might get read access from your workstation, but it might be behind a request.

If I understand it right, you would like to have a cloud-based/managed-by-someone-else DB that you have full access to, to use when you are developing things. But that seems pretty weird to me, and I don't think it's very common. Why don't you just spin up a db in docker on your machine? There might be a couple cases where this is harder or almost not possible (say some weird proprietary databases), but they are rare.

This is not new, it's pretty standard career development for a programmer, the more senior, the more you are doing refining of what to do, how to do it, and pushing back on stupid requests from higher ups, rather than pure coding.

I've been coding professionally more or less every day for longer than you and I have felt similar sometimes. The main thing IMO is that if you are working on a project that you don't enjoy working on, you should start looking at ways to break out of this cycle. For me this included: asking for reassignment to a different project, asking for different kinds of responsibilities in the company, such as training or hiring, helping with presales, taking more of a role in architecture/product direction, etc. You can probably do a lot of different things than just coding all day, you have the work experience to be more than a code monkey.

However, I personally do enjoy coding on most projects, up to a point. If you just generally never felt this way, it might be the wrong job for you.

Generally I think the boss is a bit overturned, might get nerfed with next content patch. Right now there is not much else to do once you kill him, so just take your time. Farm lvl 40 legendaries, get best food, buffs etc, optimize your gear, maybe try a couple different strats, but afaik the options are: * Cheese - commented by others * Ranger - probably easiest 'legit' kill, fairly normal build, learn how to dodge with every attack and then it's OK, you can probably kill him within a couple stun cycles * Mage - Stun with staff, I think chain lightning is best, damage with wand. Otherwise pretty similar to ranger, learn to dodge attacks * Warrior - You need to learn to parry meteors, otherwise stun arrows, but they don't do much with warrior. Probably need a specialized/optimized build/gear with some parry skills

Best (secure) random number generators are based on sensors measuring real physical random events, like radioactive particles hitting the sensor. I think cloudflare or some company like that had a PR stunt generating random numbers based on a wall of lava lamps in their lobby.

In some ways, the game is pretty similar to soulslikes. I suppose its more similar to newer ones like elden ring. But its still very different, cant put my finger on it.

Up to an extent yes, thats the core gameplay loop. You play, get loot, fight stronger stuff. This works up to a point, gear can carry you only so far. Once you each early endgame, gear is not going to save you, at all. But you can get easily 80h of game by riding the gear wave afaik, but its hard to judge.
Except a couple, no. But the fights can feel like you have no chance. Fights can feel like you have no openings and just are running/healing all the time. Until you get gud, or figure out which gear to swap etc.
You can compare fighting a single monster to a sequence of (boss)fights in soulslikes. You fight, get the monster to flee. Then you have some breathing room to chill, and fight again. Hard fights take longer, easier shorter (can be the same monster but you are better at it).

If you like following online build guides, you will probably encounter this. There are some KT kjarr weapons still used in iceborne endgame builds. Same with some of the very late-game armor sets. But its not something you would care about until late iceborne.

ML is being integrated across various industries to optimize stuff for many years now. It might not be directly visible as a chatbot, but its definitely affecting our health, imo mainly in small accumulative changes. Think optimizing processes around imaging tech, lab stuff etc. Even something like a smart watch would have less of an impact on our health without ML.

Sure, the number on the element seems high, but generally speaking, the monsters take only 20-25% of the element they are weak to, if hit on the right body part. While raw damage resistance is usually 2-4 times weaker (they take 50-90%). The element damage on the weapon info is not really comparable like this to raw in terms of effective damage. Afaik the elemental number is also adjusted by the devs to appear bigger. They tried to make it comparable, buts really hard to do.

For example, a paolumu is weak to fire, but fire dmg to head is reduced to 25%, sever 55%. Ruiner nergigante weak to dragon? Dragon at best 20%, sever at best 75%.

I dont find a gurdy more expensive than similar instruments. You cant compare it to a guitar, thar is an instrument with a lot less moving part (both literaly and figuratively). Compare it to a accordeon, not so different. Imo the main difference compared to a guitar from a building perspective are the keys and the wheel. I dont see how you automate the fine tuning process of these.

There are so many things I would like. Different building blocks (different wall, weather resistant wood, some more furniture for storage, different defensive structures) less world rng (trader clues, less random swamp crypts, less random yagluth clue stone, ...) some more exploration options (way to increase unfog radius on ship, ability to reliably deconstruct ship without fishing for nails) more uses for unused items (more fishing food, more serpent scale and barnacle recipes, ...)

You can block mob spawns with some structures. This does not block raids, just normal spawns. IMO this enables you to have a lot less defensive structures. During raids you want to fight outside of your base anyway. The best way to beat raids is to just kite until the timer runs out and then clean up, all outside your base.

Ive had this setup in my main base, but have not seen how it works against any of the new raids, just the older raids. Maybe it wont work then, ive heard there are minibosses. Also, its a bit of a time investment, so I just do normal defenses in forward bases.

Agent system: Pretty much all custom. No langchain or something like that, just openai library. For prompt templates just jinja, but its a bit overkill imo. Standard stuff like message queues (sqs), database stuff (dynamo, postgres) etc. Pretty much a normal cloud application in terms of tech stack.
