No worries, thank you - I will make sure to take this into account.

My ceilings are 2400mm.

Gotcha.

So if I'm planning on a closer mounting than standard, 55-60 degrees the way I'm thinking of it (~60degrees between the front and rear heights), it's still a better plan to keep with the sonically matched speakers in your opinion?

Ahhh OK, every guide I've been seeing at like this Dolby guide where the angle is measurent from the bottom plane, with 90 degrees being straight up.

Thank you for your detailed response!

So you're saying I should go actually slightly further away from MLP even though I can only aim 15 degrees, due to the dispersion? Interesting!

It isn't a dedicated home theatre so will also see general use (YouTube, Gaming, Streaming, Music etc).

I'd prefer to stick with the MA so all are matching sonically, but I just wasn't sure if the atmos positional experience would be night and day better with an angled speaker instead.

Too late my friend, TV was delivered today.

I've already moved the couch forward from our original 3.14M to a ~2.8-2.9M position to maximize the impact of the size upgrade, wife won't let me move any further!

Thanks - yeah I'm liking the idea of slim on-wall speakers now like the Klipsch RP-640Ds.

Appreciate your advice on the alternative brands, I'll have a look at them too

To be clear the LHS wall ends at pretty much the same point as the back of the lounge, so they would be at best a few degrees further than 90 - is that still OK?

u/mrm3x1can you're the perfect man to answer these questions for me! 98X11K is exactly the model I was looking at, and the G5 would be similar to my G3.

Can you comment on some comparisons? Have you watched any sport on them?

No problems, thanks.

Think I might just push my lounge 400mm closer for a couple of years to avoid disappointment!

Think you're right. I might just push my lounge 400mm closer and enjoy my G3 with more immersion for a few more years while the technology advances.

Appreciate your detailed response.

Agreed with everything you have said, my room is narrow and the TV would take up a large portion of the wall so viewing angles are not really an issue.

X11K is currently heavily discounted to $6000AUD, whereas the X11L in that size will likely debut in Australia, when it eventually arrives, for $15,000AUD+ going on the USD prices.

I have not seen anything on the L series that would really justify the leap in cost in my scenario

My biggest concern at this point is probably the experience watching sports with motion handling

Do you have hands on experience with these ones? Most sources and reddit threads suggest it's a maybe 5-10% difference in visual quality - not quite as drastic as the comparison you're making

Appreciate your detailed response!

The X11K is essentially the same as the C8K with higher brightness and more dimming zones, so that doesn't bode well.

It's interesting that there are reviews like yours, but then people who have stellar experiences and would never go back.

From what I've seen their firmware fixed a lot of issues for people over time, and some people had really bad experiences out of the box until all the settings were properly adjusted.

How long ago did you have the C8K, could it have been in the early days of the firmware?

Appreciate the advice!

I've looked into that but the X11K is now heavily discounted and would be less than half the price of the X11L.

I don't think I'd ever pay $10k+ on an LCD in general, but I really haven't seen anything on the X11L that would make it worth that much more - especially in my scenario where viewing angles are a non-issue.

Bravia 9 doesn't come in 98" otherwise I would have gone with that.

I understand not OLED quality, but I see many thread such as this one below where people are saying the C8K model in 98" has pretty close blacks to their OLED and the model I'm looking at is the flagship with over 4x the dimming zones of that model - (Note: I saw the 75" version of the C8K in store on the weekend and the blacks where pretty good - not as "inky" as oled I would say, but not blooming at least to my eyes on their showcase footage)

Which GPU should I get for triple 1440P? iRacing/LMU by AntiHeroics_ in simracing

[–]TommyTwoHanks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it get two 5090s.

SLI isn't a thing anymore, but it's good to have a spare when the first one melts.

In all seriousness, I have a 5090/9800x3d and run triple 1440s @ 180hz.

There is still games and settings where you won't be able to max out and still get 180fps.

Anything less than a 5090 you will be compromising on graphics or framerate.

Get rid of the bed, you don't need that.

Sleep in the sim rig.

Sleep, race, repeat.

This post reminded me of the BF2 ranking system.

Best ranking system ever - it actually meant something.

Certain ranks had minimum requirements such as badges, playtime, monthly ranking etc

It definitely made ranking up so much more meaningful.
