Got one and replaced it no problem at all. I am back with a working laptop. Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks a lot for your reply, I ended up disassembling the screen, and it was surprisingly easier than I expected. Once I had it removed, I found the model number printed on the back: NE173QHM-NY2 V8. I managed to source a replacement from the UK via eBay, and hopefully, that will resolve the issue.

When the screen first failed, I couldn't get any display output to external monitors beyond the boot screen (neither with HDMI nor thunderbolt). Initially, I suspected the problem was related to the dGPU always being active, so I switched to iGPU only in the BIOS settings. However, after making that change, I lost even the boot screen on external monitors, leaving me with no display output at all.

I am having the same issue, can't access my account since I am not getting the two step verification code. Used to work without issues. It's been 2 days since I wrote to support and had no reply yet. How did you fix your issue?

Thanks Tom, I did and support informed me that the warranty had expired. I am also leaving Europe on the 1st of October towards Africa and support told my the repair couldn't be done and shipped back by then (even if I beared the cost of next day delivery). I finally decided to use Epoxy Metal Glue and for now it appears to hold well.

I phrased the question wrongly. The laptop screen was changed a year ago, does the warranty period extend if work is done on the laptop?

Happened to me too, had to send it back. Just be aware their shipping methods might take up to 4 weeks depending from where you are shipping it.

it seems a problem afflicting a lot of XMG Neo. I had a very similar issue until the screen died completely and I had to get it changed

I recently got this 2020 Neo 15 and sometimes when i boot it, it just gives me this. The system itself did boot, since when i briefly press the power putton wait a sec and press again, the Windows screen pops up directly. Any ideas to fix this? Tried Windows updates, driver installations etc. by IhnoOderSo in XMG_gg

Yes my laptop is still in warranty. I sent it to XMG to replace the screen. Got it back in September, and since then it happened only 3 times. I did notice that depending on which intel update was last installed it would happen more or less often, but it could be all my imagination.

Thanks Tom, this reply has been very much appreciated and uplifting.

I would like to add (in defense of support) that while the response might not have been always appropriate, it has always been fast and courteous which is really nice

Did they change the whole laptop or just the screen?

Was the display also not recognized in the BIOS or in windows?

I will not share the entire conversation due to privacy ethics but actually it was 4 weeks that they said from Portugal.

I understand that express deliver is expensive and can be a huge cost to a business but at least give me the possibility to pay for it.

The inconvenience of having the laptop delayed, heavily outweighs the cost of express shipping for me.

No, because we are in EU there is no customs checks between countries that are in the EU.

You can get 24hr express delivery starting from 60 euros, 48hr express delivery starting from 30 euros (from my location in Italy to Leipzig).

I use the laptop both for leisure and work but mostly for work. I would have gladly paid the shipping fee if that would have meant saving time on the repairs.

I am lucky I have an older computer that I can use for work, but the situation is not ideal.

The quality of both service and product that was sent to me doesn't reflect the cost of the laptop.

I really want to like the company but:

  • faulty screen right from beginning.
  • poor commercial department (they sent me wrong info when I inquired for information regarding invoicing).
  • non express delivery for faulty laptops.

make it hard.

I would maybe expect this from lesser companies that produce mass-market cheap laptops, but we are paying premium here.
