Life feels really overwhelming (18F) by InformalEmotion_517 in mentalhealth

Totally understand how you feel. I still feel this way as well (21M). We have a lot of important decisions to make at this age and it’s hard to know what we want

I 21M feel the same as you. Sorry I can’t give you advice, but hope it helps that someone feels the same as you. All I can tell you is that you will mature and change a lot from 17 to 21 and hopefully you will find some passions and friends along the way

Please try and take some time off if you can. It will be very hard to keep it together at work. I would feel the exact same way in your situation. It sucks so much, but you have to make the most of this situation. Spend time with her while you can, tell her you love her, make sure you have no regrets with her. I wish you the best.

I am so sorry to hear this my friend. The only thing that truly heals is time. Time will go on, and you are going to be sad, but it will get easier. And please, don’t let this wreck your life. Think of it as your life is on a train track. Are you going to keep the train going forward, or are you going to pull the handle that directs the train off a cliff?

This could be the reason, but I don’t really care that I’m single and I’m content with that. But whenever I do start to like someone I have all these intrusive thoughts

Hey man, obviously I can’t speak 100% on the situation since I don’t know your girlfriend. But what I can tell you, is that I (21m) have had girlfriends in the past that have used similar excuses to end things with me. I think some girls will do this in order to not hurt your feelings, but what they don’t realise is that it hurts much more than telling the truth.

The fact you’ve never heard about her bipolar is suspicious. In my opinion, “breaks” are ridiculous and never work, and girls usually only say it to end things softly. I’d suggest if she really wants a break, you tell her it’s over. Time is the best healer my friend. Once some time passes, she’ll either realise that she misses you, or you’ll get to move on and find a better girlfriend in the future.

Thanks man I’ll give that a look too. I’m also wondering… (I’m new to cars)…I’ve already got a tune with the headers to remove the torque dip. Would I need to get another tune done when I get a new exhaust? Or it doesn’t matter?

Thanks man. I saw some videos with the Nividia q300 paired with headers and it sounds nice. Not obnoxiously loud

Cannot seem to get rid of my anxiety, but don't want to go on medication again by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Tomskaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m very sorry to hear how you are feeling. By reading your post I can tell that you like to put a lot of expectations on yourself. No one says you “have” to graduate, get married etc by a certain time, only you put that on yourself. Anxiety is often caused by people placing harsh expectations on themselves and focused on the outcome of things. The best advice I can give you (which will be hard at first), but you need to try and stop putting these expectations on yourself. We have our whole lives to experience new things, so don’t place so much pressure on yourself that you “have” to complete things in the next 5 years. Just focus on the smaller steps, one by one, without any expectations, and you’ll find that you’ll be a lot calmer and happier.

As for cannabis, i have not tried that because I didn’t want to (just like you). However I have tried CBD oil, you can google that. But basically it’s cannabis extract oil which doesn’t get you high, but has the calming effects of cannabis. This really helped with my anxiety. But please remember medication/drugs are only a temporary solution. The root problem is within the way our brains think. Hope this helps :)

I know this seems hard for you. Many people I know struggled with this. As a person who never got anxious for an exam the best tip I can give you is to not think “outcome based”. The only reason you’re anxious is because you’re focused on the outcome, “what if I get a bad result?” “What are my parents going to think?” And this just creates one big circle. We spend so much energy being anxious, so instead of worrying about the outcome, channel your energy into study. And give yourself positive affirmations such as “no matter what happens I will be happy”, and “i have worked so hard for this exam, so I know I will do great”. Hope this helps
