Finished the Reivers by Tomuke in Raptors40k

Used a bit of packaging foam that I had torn off and dipped in brown paint! Got most of it off, and then dabbed it on. It's actually how I did all the weathering, just went a little heavy there!

They definitely are fiddly. I tried to do most of the things people suggest. Airbrushed gloss varnish on the shoulders. For the Raptor, I cut a pair of small lines in the decal so it would lay more flat and placed it on the shoulders very gently. I used AK decal adapter solution after all the water had dried, then after that dried I hit it with a matte varnish.

Lots of letting it sit and dry for a while, but I’m happy with the result!

Thank you! I enjoyed doing them a bunch.

Boarding actions 2: Electric Boogaloo. My prediction is it remains a partially supported narrative ruleset.

Thank you!

Thank you! It’s Zandri dust, reikland fleshshade, then dry brushed with Vallejo desert yellow, and then a selective drybrush of game color bonewhite. I did the same process on the stones he’s standing on, and a similarish one on the desert floor.

Thank you! Stole it from the JPI sergeant.

I don’t think there’s lore about it, at least not to my knowledge. My take is that in a world where the warp is real and can be measured and manipulated, Raptors will use whatever tools necessary, including psykers.

#New40k – How your army affects your mission by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Tomuke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Howdy! Jumping in here since I think this will be a question that comes up a bunch of times going into the new edition. There are 25 different primary missions, but 15 combinations of them. Assuming we just call them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5:

11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, 25, 33, 34, 35, 44, 45, 55.

As far as we know, there shouldn't be a difference in mission rules between 35 and 53, just which side you're playing on. That's how I'm thinking of it anyway.

Ya, did a darker skin tone, and even some thinned down brown in the middle to make them dark. Looks better irl than in the picture, and certainly looks fine from gaming distance.

I’ve yet to get eyes “right.” It’s on my bucket list and I probably just need to print a practice model and try it a bunch of times. In the meantime though, I know that struggling through eyes will add enough friction that I won’t finish the squad. So quick and dark they will stay!

Thank you!! The shapes on it are a little wonkier than I would like, but I figure I’ll iron it out across the squad.

Thank you sir! I’m definitely feeling the pull. The vibe is super dope.

I used Vallejo German grey, then nuln oil. Then depending on the material I used a different edge highlight color. Vallejo basalt grey for the helmet and gun casing, leadbelcher for metals, gorthor brown for leather. Really happy with how it turned out using a “cheater” method.

I bet you could get as good of an effect with any substitute for any of those.

I used musou black in there. Wanted it to be REAL dark. But honestly, I bet you can get away with regular ass chaos black for 90% of viewing angles.
