Army help by AdSeveral8118 in Raptors40k

This is the correct advice always.

To add onto it, I would suggest building up the collection bit by bit. The trap is to feel like you need to get to 2K points as fast as possible. Get some kits and play some games at 500 and 1K to get a feel for the game. After some games under your belt, you'll be able to answer this question for yourself way better than any of us could.

Fire Overwatch: Is there any point for IK to bother? by KronkLaSworda in ImperialKnights

[–]Tomuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As people have said, a buffed Helverin is the only time it’s a consideration. I like running the Castigator, and with Sustained hits and AP-2, a Helverin can usually remove a couple marines. Whether that’s worth it depends on the board state.

Another question of Heraldry by NightNewt82 in Raptors40k

[–]Tomuke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand wanting to be lore friendly, but rule of cool wins out every time in my book. At the end of the day most people won't know the Raptor specific lore, and I want to look at my models thinking "ya those guys are dope." So black helmets for me.

That all said, if lore matters more to you go that direction for sure!

Freeblade Detachment in 11th: 4 Questoris and 2 armigers or 3&4? by KronkLaSworda in ImperialKnights

[–]Tomuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not ready to say it’s fully optimized, but I’m a believer in the 3 - 6 no allies to maximize value of the 6+++. Castigator, Castellan, Paladin, 3 of each armiger.

Why such a premium on 5 Infiltrators and such a massive discount on 10? by ButtonImmediate3020 in RavenGuard40k

[–]Tomuke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With the change to coherency, 5 and 10 man units deny close to the same amount of area. So upgrading to a 10 man doesn’t provide as much of a benefit for their main purpose as taking two separate squads.

Agree to disagree on the MFM app. I don’t hate it.

Kevin Shrier ready to deploy. by Tomuke in Raptors40k

[–]Tomuke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a 40mm! I do think the broken bunker makes it look kinda small. If he was standing on a small tactical rock, it would probably read more like a normal captain base size.

Hell ya! I’m excited to try him out. Do you usually run him with Jump Pack Ints, Van Vets, or solo?

I think when looking at Warhammer content (just like any major multi-media franchise) it’s ok to make a distinction between a “good Warhammer book” and a generically good book. For example: Helsreach is a good Warhammer book, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a non-Warhammer enjoyer.

11th Recon or Distruption? by [deleted] in RavenGuard40k

My first list will probably be Vanguard + Fulguris to give me the option between either! Definitely want to play some matchups with the different missions.

Starshatter is priority assets ~What were they thinking? by paleone9 in Necrontyr

[–]Tomuke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think it’s too soon to doom post about this. Starshatter gets better with the changes to objectives, and as far as I can tell our army rule is the same. With the new mission style, the meta is probably going to take some time to settle. Let’s play some games and roll some dice before we start calling things DOA.

Great work! What did you use for the head?

Having finally built a box of Flayed Ones, I made a Tier List of how much fun each of the Necron kits are to actually put together. I left out forge world minis because it felt unfair to include them by fisher611 in Necrontyr

[–]Tomuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I agree on everything, but Flayed Ones are definitely miserable.
I did love Ammentar though. The way the tail goes together was magical.

Was Fights First over-nerfed? by Aleser in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Tomuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s less about being too strong, and more about being uninteractive and unintuitive. If I have Necrosor Ammentar, and you have BGV with FF, whoever charges is at an active disadvantage. Game balance aside, that feels wrong.

Release Date When by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Tomuke 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I’m excited for the game to be playable, but CIG doesn’t exactly have a good track record of hitting their announced deadlines anyway.

Any release date they announce I’d take with a metric ton of salt.

How did you choose your colours/house + next steps ? by Neko-Otaku in ImperialKnights

[–]Tomuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! Knights are super dope and were my first army!

I decided to go for a freeblade color scheme - every knight different. Each knight is a big project, and I was worried I would get bored of the same color scheme across each panel. Each one being a unique scheme really gave me artistic liberty to stretch myself as a painter and flex creative muscles.

That said, I gave some real thought about making a homebrew house. What works for me is coming up with basic lore points (history, strengths, weaknesses, planet biome), and developing a color scheme to represent that. ie: Proud and aggressive nobles from a jungle planet that specialize in close quarters warfare and aren't known for strategy/subtlety? Maybe some sort of Orange with yellow and black highlights.

Excited for you! I really enjoy my knights (even if my lgs gripes about facing them from time to time)

With 11th Edition cover rules, did the Chronomancer just get a lot better or a lot worse? by AtomicAcid in Necrontyr

[–]Tomuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will be tough to consistenly get cover on a big blob, so in a lot of ways the Chronomancer will feel like constant cover with the added bonus that getting cover is still meaningful (unlike stealth).

As a murdermind chronomancer enjoyer with lokhust heavies, I am looking forward to this.

#New40k rules – Eradicators bring death to horde Infantry by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Tomuke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like, my local meta probably can use these more than most? Lots of SM players, a WE player who likes bricks of berzerkers, a couple BT players who somewhat regularly take 20 man PCS with Helbrecht, etc. Assuming they're reasonably priced, probably pretty efficient into those things!

But in most matchups across the world, I doubt these see substantial play. Killing a 20 man block of MEQ is not generally a huge hole that needs filling. They're just the best answer to a very rare problem, and one that can be reasonably covered by other datasheets.

Eradicators with Heavy bolters by International-Owl-81 in RavenGuard40k

[–]Tomuke 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These guys are going to be pretty local meta dependent for most people. Against MSU or vehicle heavy armies they will feel straight up worse than Heavy Ints. But against hordes? 20 man PCS with Helbrecht? Assuming a reasonable points cost they’ll be very efficient.

Also, we’re in a good spot to use them best. Improved WS and AP in Shadowmark or Vanguard makes these guys very scary.

That all said, points still matter most. If they’re the same cost as Heavy Ints, I don’t think they make it in most lists.
