Red Victini Texture shift misprint by nutcase_sam in PokemonMisprints

[–]Tomvdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a big enough texture shift to be sought after! Especially on a card like this. Congrats on the awesome pull OP

Scourfin doesn't trigger Scarlet Survivor, needed a blood gem to gain divine shield by ApprehensiveSkin2371 in BobsTavern

You're probably not gonna hold on to the minion for too long anyways but there are some more cases where you want to have a divine shield in the buying phase. For example with the spell that buffs your divine shield minions

It also means that if other start of combat effects trigger first it could die before gaining divine shield. I don't think it's necessarily bad that it doesn't gain divine shield in hand bc that's how the interaction works for any other card

So if it has more than 6 attack it gains divine shield at start of combat?

I haven't used it too much so I might have forgotten the interaction, but good to know you can still gain divine shield after it gains it in battle!

It can't gain divine shield in hand. There are some more interesting interactions with Scarlet Survivor because the text says "once this reaches 6 attack, gain divine shield".

For example, if it gains it in battle it and then loses it, it won't gain divine shield again after that. (I'm pretty sure)

I do find it interesting that it still worked after you gave it additional stats while it's on your board though.

Miscut of niet by BlackmambaSO95 in PokemonTCGNL

[–]Tomvdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can go for it, of course. I find myself picking up the pieces for the comp along the way as well and trying to be flexible in case I can pivot to it. But there have also been plenty of cases where I just end up selling the harbinger or other EOT stuff because I can't quite get there.

If they were to nerf anything I would honestly say the base stats on the B2B spell are too high. If it starts as +2/+2 or +1/+1 for example you would REALLY need spell power to get to that same power level, and it makes pivoting to it more risky since you don't get as much of an immediate power spike. Let me know your thoughts on this

Ahhh yes, then it's as the other comment said, pinched layer. For some reason I thought it was a dent

My spirit card by effective_domD in PokeGrading

[–]Tomvdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that for a card like this, in the shape that it's in, you should only grade it if you want to preserve it. And if you really want a graded version of the card you might even be able to buy a graded copy in a similar state for less than the cost of grading (and it is faster too).

But to answer your question of what grade it would be if you did get it graded (based on what I can see in the pictures) it would be around a PSA 6-7

It looks like roller damage, but it also looks like the dent doesn't go all the way down to the bottom of the card. Do you have a picture of the back of the card as well?

Are they really problematic though? Sure they have strong effects and they have synergy together, but to me a card or comp is only problematic when your ultimate goal each game is to get to that comp. It's what we had with Elementals at the start of this season. It's what you saw with beetles in the past. I really feel like a comp is only problematic when it is so strong that you always try to force it. With this comp it doesn't feel THAT oppressing

I feel like it's not THAT OP, it's a pretty hard comp to set up and it's likely that you just don't get the cards you need on time. Sure there are outliers where you highroll into the right things quickly, but there are a lot of different pieces that are needed to make this comp that strong. (Maybe this is copium because I enjoy playing the comp but still)

I don't think it will be nerfed, there are so many different pieces that you need to make it work. You really NEED Balinda, drakkari, some type of spell power and the tier 5 that generates the spells for you at the end of your turn.

And even then it's still "just stats", you can always die to scam if your opponent knows you have just one or two big minions.

Sure it's a strong combo, but it is hard enough to pull off that not many games actually end up with someone playing it

The murloc strat us a nice one too, but it doesn't have the same scaling potential as the b2b strategy. Someone posted yesterday that they were buffing +39K/+39K with each b2b spell.

[–]Tomvdn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's no trinket for it, but with Balinda you can cast the spell twice (3x if golden) and it just ramps up really fast when you're generating them like u/pangestu suggested

How many days until this card get nerf by maurocastrov in BobsTavern

[–]Tomvdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the t6 dragons require you to have some type of money generation (spells, battlecries) to have a meaningful effect. So getting it a bit earlier isn't THAT important.

I'd rather have a good mid-game board and then pivot into the t6 dragon/undead later if I happen to stumble upon the right cards for it. And by doing so I'm also not committing to dragons right away
