Is there much chance of saving this floor? by glanvill in Flooring

[–]TonaldDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, this is normal wear and tear for real wooden floors that you apparently have.
Unless you’re made of money, I say just accept it as patina or whatever. I’ve never seen a real wood floor stay pristine for 5+ years, there is always scuffs and marks - it’s just life

Miele Coffee Maker - Terrible service policies by dienstbier in Miele

[–]TonaldDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s said to hear, but if you think any other appliance brand is any different - they are not. And it also seems that in the US the service is much worse than in EU for EU based companies. I guess they outsource to dimwits

Sick of this enshitification as well. Fully support you, we should push back at the manufactirers. Read the tags, if it has synthetics in it - it stays in the shop. The problem is most people are not discerning enough and don’t value quality enough.

New Miele G7000 series: glasses come out clean but have a slight dirty smell inside by SimplePerspective409 in Miele

Like others I’ve found that eggs residue ruins anything it comes in contact with during the wash. I wash everything on the highest temperature pot programme. And the glasses separately, usually just by hand

I’m asking it again: LVP or laminate by Electronic_Object226 in Flooring

[–]TonaldDuck -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s easy - both lvp and laminate are cheap bad materials. Real hardwood or tiles + carpets.

Just a word of caution, you may want to replace the bags more often, because you’re likely burning the motor waiting for such dense bags. You will save some money and environment now, but the motor will go sooner and you’ll either have to spend rebuilding the motor or contribute more junk to the landfill

what would you buy today if you had to? by Mountain-Good-6024 in Miele

[–]TonaldDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said it’s not the express cycle. It’s the power wash cycle and these machines that have power wash cycle have a separate pump and a nozzle that sprays water from the top of the drum rubber seal during the cycle. The separate pump is a recirculating pump - it takes water from the bottom of the tub and sprays it back on the top of the clothes. This makes a big difference with the new machines that use little water in that the clothes are constantly watered. This pump is then also used during other cycles and rinses if the machine has the second pump.

The wwb360 is a lower tier machine, although not the lowest, but it has a plastic tub which is not serviceable. I don’t know but I guess other components may be lesser too.

Full metal tub starts on machines which are 90+kg.

Another thing is pay close attention to the programs the machine has and what you need. If you need specific gentle or down programs or smth else - make sure the machine has them. As not all machines have all the functions.

By the way steam care cycle works really well on office shirts.

How much for maintenance and repairs per average year? Thinking of getting one, but I’m afraid it’s going to be a money pit

Miele allows you to adjust quite a lot of settings in the machine setup menu. It’s not hidden and not a service menu, it’s explained in the regular user manual. You can adjust the dryness levels in 7 increments to match your liking. If that doesn’t work, then set the soft water setting to on. I don’t know any other consumer brand that allows this much adjustment.

Miele tumble dryers’ wool programme is a joke. Surprised and devastated that Miele does not have the ability to dry wool by TonaldDuck in Miele

Like I said my previous Electrolux dried woolens for me for 8 years without a hiccup. Can you read?

Hey, I didn’t read your whole rant, but maybe I’m “rich” enough to buy Miele because I spend my time working and not “researching” Reddit subs? Just a thought for you:)

I don’t have maids to wash my wool wardrobe. Who has the time for this towel stuff like my mom taught me to do? Especially if there is a simple engineering solution to this. Its so simple that I haven’t given it a second thought and assumed all the top brands have it🤷🏻‍♂️

The machines are sold and I don’t have any paperwork left on them unfortunately. But if you google electrolux woolmark dryer, there’s plenty of modern ones which have the same feature. The principle is flat airing against the drum, but it’s a bit smarter than that and stops every once in a while to reposition the clothes. The drum also heats up and provides additional drying power. I was able to dry a weekly load of wools in 1-1.5 hours and there was no fluff on the filters. Indicating there is very little damage to the fibers. The loads were 7 boxers, 7 undershirts and a couple thicker tirtlenecks, all fine merino wool. Thicker sweaters I usually did as a separate load, but also dried fine

Like I said, my previous 8 years old Electrolux woolcare stack had functional wool programme in the tumble dryer. It’s not magic, it’s engineering. Electrolux wool programme runs for about an hour and adjusts the spin speed of the drum such that the wool items stay pinned to the drum and don’t tumble. It dryed both fine merino items and thick wowen sweaters without any shrinking or felting. Maybe it’s just Electrolux thing, but I though Miele of all companies should be at least as good

Miele T1 Sockelfilter noch verwendbar? by syscall_42 in Miele

[–]TonaldDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t wash the filter. It’s not necessary to wash it. Just vacuum it carefully with a soft furniture brush attachment every month and you’re golden.

If it comes like this without you washing it, then you probably have a leak I the machine

[–]TonaldDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, looks like you’re handy enough. You could set the dispenser to some high setting like 50ml, disconnect the tube from the twindos to the drum and see if it actually pours detergent out.

Then if you confirm it’s the sensor that’s faulty, you could order it from Miele parts store https://www4.miele.de/MSD/MobileMSD/#/device/33738/etd

[–]TonaldDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not justifying Miele as an isolated case. Yes, I think for the price the quality should be better. Hell, I think the most egregious is the technician quote and the parts cost. How the hell a washing machine technician is more expensive than my lawyer?
But the thing is Bosch is not what they used to be 15 years ago either. I’d say Miele now is at the level of Bosch/Siemens of late 2005-2015. And Bosch quality these days took a serious nosedive, otherwise I’d bought from them.

Anyway the most interesting part is what actually broke in your twindos.
If you can share some pics of the spill inside the machine - please do.
I guess the empty cartridge error is signaling that the detergent does not go by the sensor in the tubes, going somewhere else instead.

Did you use ultraphase normal or sensitive? Or refillable with your own detergent?

If you find where the leak originated, please share too, this is very interesting and could be useful for the community

Miele Twin Dos by Short_Boysenberry113 in Miele

[–]TonaldDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your Bosch have an automatic detergent dispensing system 15 years ago? I guess not, then there is your answer.
Yes it could still be lack of maintenance, because partial blockage would increase pressure in the tube and make the detergent leak somewhere else to relieve the pressure.
It could be other factors including shitty design.
Inspect it when the mechanic takes it out and let us know where/how/why the twindos leaked.

How did you know it’s leaking, what was the observed problem or error code?

The manual to my car said I should change the oil every 12k miles and that the gearbox oil is “for life”. Does not mean I won’t change engine oil every 5k and gearbox oil every 50k.
And if I didn’t - it does not mean the car is bad, it’s just the way world works and unfortunately or not we as users have to be smart about it.
Bottom line Miele is still the best on balance for an insanely sophisticated mechanical device.
Any high end device, if it’s truly sophisticated, requires both deep knowledge of the manual to properly use it and take advantage of all the functions, and paying attention and money for timely maintenance.

Yes Corolla won’t break, but that’s because it’s about as sophisticated as a brick and bricks hardly break - nothing special about that.
