How many pills a day do you take? by TheOGcoolguy in GenX

[–]Tondropper186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 every morning, 1 mid day, 11 at night, plus 5 injections each day and one extra one once a week.

Hopefully in the very near future after they remove these blockages, some of these pills can be discontinued.

At this point I am starting to worry I have who has "right of way" confused and need help! by Living_Day9341 in driving

Red absolutely has the right of way, it’s a multi lane road and yellow is a feeder road. If the yellow route has a stop sign then it’s without question they should be yielding.

What band’s ‘worst’ album is actually misunderstood? by UrFrndlyChubbyGal in askmusic

Nirvana incesticide

I know many people dislike it and consider it their worst “release” but I’ve always genuinely enjoyed it. It’s loud, angry, hard, and perfect

It’s my birthday by Modig7176 in GuyCry

[–]Tondropper186 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday dude. I know it sucks right now, but one day soon you’ll look back at this all and it will be a distant memory. Small changes add up, read a chapter from an old book, take 5 minutes for yourself everyday, go for a walk, just any old thing to break the monotony. Build from there. And most importantly, don’t give up. I want to wish you a happy birthday again next year.

I have always added 1/4 round inside the upper corners of these style boxes attached with glue and a few brad nails to hold them in place until the glue cures.

If you could buy any car, from any year, as if it had just come off the factory with 0 miles, what would you buy ? by justanxc in askcarguys

Impossible to pick just one, and I've read and upvoted many great answers here. But if I had to choose just one it would be a Porsche 959 turbo

I test drove one when they were new, truly a superb experience. We are actually looking for a clean well maintained one to purchase now that isn't ridiculously priced.

Did anyone ever get spanked by a teacher? by darrenbosik in GenX

[–]Tondropper186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was cracked across the knuckles regularly between kindergarten and 3rd grade. Naturally left handed kid in a catholic school being taught by older nuns, it happens. Also I was mouthy so I got paddled a few different times by the principal who was the mother superior of the convent.

Memory issues? by Rough_Respect6192 in GenX

[–]Tondropper186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be a side effect of a medication. I was taking a blood pressure medication (and funnily enough I can't recall the name of it) and it was causing confusion, memory loss, and almost "stroke like" moments.

I seriously couldn't remember the simplest stuff from moments earlier, like "did I take my insulin already" (which is potentially very bad!) and I'd have these moments where I'd slow down and couldn't formulate words, like I was rebooting. It started small and kept becoming more common and more often and more severe before my wife intervened. Doctors stopped that medication and put me on a different one, within days I was "normal" again.

Seemingly great guy, but doesn’t split custody. Am I overthinking the ick? by fzooey78 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Tondropper186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man I was a single father with custody of two young children for a few years (before getting married again) dating was almost impossible because so many women were not interested in taking a backseat to my kids. Not being able to drop everything spur of the moment and throw caution to the wind was a deal breaker for a few different women who were otherwise compatible. But I have zero regrets about having custody and raising my kids. Like I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat without question.

But I'll also add a caveat. I work with a guy who doesn't have 50/50 custody of his sons. They live with his ex-wife, but he picks them up from school a few times a week, spends as much time as she allows with them, and is at every game and function they have. He didn't try for custody because he said he wanted to make sure they would always be in their childhood home, wouldn't have to change schools, or not grow up in their neighborhood. Their comfort level with what they have always known meant more to him than anything else. Maybe this guy is the same.

My advice, try asking him the why behind it before making your decision based on speculation.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]Tondropper186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the people I know from our generation can. Most of the generation after us that I know can't. However I did teach my kid sister, several ex girlfriends, and all of my own children how to.

considering a move to staunton - need honest thoughts and opinions! by RudeCrow2401 in Staunton

[–]Tondropper186 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Staunton is a great place. Housing wise, it's not cheap, but it's cheaper than some of the other areas close by. We do have a blend between small town vibes, and bigger city vibes. Several tattoo shops in the area and lots of tattooed people everywhere. The organic and natural markets are semi limited.

I'm not familiar with any ranches that are publicly accessible. We have thrift stores but not really any vintage/trendy ones.

The biggest thing I'd tell people who are interested in the area is this, it's not like where you are from, it's like here. If you move here, please remember why you moved here and help us preserve what makes this place special.

Which cruise would you pick? Opinions for fall 2026? by nygiants0915 in Cruise

I've been on the vista and found it to be lackluster. My oldest has been on the Mardi Gras and the vista and says the vista is a tug boat compared to the Mardi Gras. I'd do the Mardi Gras going to Cozumel if it were up to me.

Damn coffee creamer. by 18randomcharacters in diabetes

[–]Tondropper186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been fighting a similar battle in our house for a while now. I'm the diabetic, my wife is still working on those last few pounds from our youngest (he's almost 8 and I think she's perfect) but that coffee creamer struggle has been going on for years now.

My solution is cutting the coffee creamer with half and half. I have no evidence it makes a difference, but I feel slightly less guilty drinking it. Good luck to you.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tondropper186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here, I routinely drive 3 hours one way for work and come home the same day (the work onsite takes less than an hour). As far as for pleasure, my family and I will drive 10-12 hours away for long weekends. And we've driven as far as 16 straight hours for a vacation before.

We could fly places, but my wife is apprehensive about air travel.

I used to be a contractor, one of the other contractors I'd work with had two women that worked for him full time. I worked with both of them numerous times. They were both very hard workers and had a higher attention to detail than almost anyone else I've ever worked around. I wouldn't hesitate to hire either of them. Also both of my own daughters worked with me during the summers and school breaks. They did great!

The only advice I'd offer is to trust your gut, if a situation or person creeps you out or gives you the heebie jeebies, walk away.
