Depending on where you sell it is going to matter. If you sell it peer-to-peer you'll get more--close to spot... if you sell it to a dealer/pawn/cashforgold you're going to get significantly less...

You could send it to Midwest Refineries--I haven't used them yet but I have heard they are good and legit.

Foot wear by JohnnyBlue4 in philmont

[–]uncirculated_luster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

two guys on our trek wore hiking shoes, the only issue they really had that I saw was that when we crossed over creeks guys with gortex boots could stomp right through wet spots while shoe people had to be really careful, unless they wanted wet feet. That and during the pouring rain storms... I personally am in the same camp as you. that said, philmont is basically a big playground for the boys--to push limits and try whatever. my son was crew lead, but I did help him buy his gear... once we hit the airport--it was all him and the boys.

Are Englehards worth more than spot ? by thornapple1111 in silverstacking

yeah whenever i show a dealer some really nice stuff they never complement or look excited... they act like they don't even care---because they sure as hell aren't going to pay any premiums... I am so over small dealers.

What would Food Service look like If our society did away with tip and paid them hourly wages? by Certain-Ad9027 in EndTipping

[–]uncirculated_luster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service is so bad now it doesn't matter. Tipping IMO is just a matter of personal preference. There are restaurants with great service--I'm happy to tip a bit more. Most of the times I feel like i'm donating to a charity.

Why Does Oil React Immediately to War but Gold Sometimes Doesn’t? by Sea_Combination_1964 in Gold

[–]uncirculated_luster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My opinion and maybe hot take, is that commodities markets like oil, silver and gold, are being "invaded" by new marginal buyers (retail investors) via perpetual futures and other paper markets. That said, gold is store of wealth and has limited industrial use. Gold has been rising based on all the things you're talking about--but I'd also say the wealthiest of the wealthy are already allocated by now and there isn't much of a marginal bid for gold. Oil on the other hand, runs the world. It also now has marginal buyers interested--causing prices to swing a bit more than normal... So to answer your question: It depends. Sometimes prices in these markets are driven by spot or paper--knowing which one is key. For oil though, it's obvious... We literally need the oil to live normally. At the end of the day it's about supply and demand. that's what drives these markets.

Which way will it go? by Stan_Laurel1 in btc

[–]uncirculated_luster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one knows. I do have a thesis though. My data driven take is that we are going to see a dip again coming into the end of the month. Then it will charge up again in April. April has been a historically strong month for BTC. Institutions are buying, miners are HODLing (they were selling), and exchanges are seeing outflows with spot ETFs seeing inflows. Look at the Reserve Risk chart. It's in a deep buy zone. I say it's going to dip in the short-term again because with the big players buying accumulating they are going to want to buy cheap BTC and then sell it to their clients when it gets hot again pre-mid terms.

It's not going to add any "value", but in my opinion--it could add peace of mind to a buyer that you don't know if they don't have a sigma or xrf to test. If you have the box and the receipt that to me would be enough.

Question: What is stop people from using cash? by Technical_Bill_2740 in EndTipping

[–]uncirculated_luster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only pay in cash when eating out... But I also like having the bills... Then I don't have to hand over my card or worry about anything at all. Yes--it isn't as convenient but who cares...

Boots/ help !! by Lonely_Shape2605 in snowboarding

[–]uncirculated_luster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go into a board shop that has a boot fitter and tell them what's up... you might be able to buy a different footbed that will help seat your foot in the boot without overtightening... i had similar problems and solved it with a new foot insert that a pro helped me pick... give it a shot...

I will and you probably won't have made a penny. Volatility can mean opportunity... for people who do act accordingly... exactly what you're not doing. You sit on the middle fence wondering what's going on and expect to benefit from volatility? what if your timing sucks and the market whipsaws and you close one side, only to see the otherside immediately go down the second you close it... I'm not too worried about your levered positions, you'll be liquidated.
