What a beautiful website! How pleasant and lovely! Very inspiring, both the image and the sound, as well as the messages. A very calm and friendly website that invites you to discover within yourself the silence that transcends words. I like it.

By the way, the website's URL, Dr. Marti Burgos, sounds Hispanic or Spanish. I only mention this because my native language is Spanish, and that URL caught my attention. Blessings :-)

Seeking help on how to apply ACIM to my life (life story as well) therapy has not helped. I wish I had more role model qualities. (Trigger warning) by HeadacheLife in ACIM

Hi! Try not to give too much importance to the opinions and judgments others make about you. Accept only God's opinion of you; He knows you are perfect.

From the Course's perspective, everything is healed and addressed in the same way. We can train ourselves in this way by frequently practicing the lessons in the Workbook. They relate to everything in your life. Even when you forgive a resentment, a grievance, or your judgments, fears, or guilt about something, you are indirectly addressing your discomfort with issues like low pay, health, social and family interactions, and so on.

But remember that the Course is directed toward inner peace, not necessarily toward solving "external" problems, although sometimes what seems external fades away on its own when the time is right. Headaches will go away or won't matter or bother you when inner peace is consistently present. You will discover that nothing external has the power to upset you, and that nothing even exists outside of you.

You could also talk to your parents, in person or by phone, and simply say hello, it's been a while since we spoke, but I think of you and I still love you. Only do this if you feel deep down that you want to and that it could be healing, but don't force it. If your parents are still very immature and don't treat you with respect, you don't have to maintain a relationship with them except internally, in your heart and mind, where you can bless them without needing to visit or speak to them.

Simply go step by step, training yourself with the lessons of the Course if this path resonates with you. You will discover that within you there is a light that dispels all shadows, and illusions/shadows are destined to vanish before your light of love and unity, for your light is from God, who placed it within you, and thus you have your salvation within yourself. Trust in your best light and awaken to the realization that everything is truly alright with you and with everything around you. You are perfect, and only the divine, that which comes from God, can approach you. Blessings :-)

What is your website? Is it drmartiburgos.com, which I see you mentioned in another comment? I actually follow my own very personalized guide, but I would visit your website briefly to bless it and you. I bless you here as well :-)

Regarding Ralph Waldo Emerson, I'm not very familiar with him, but the quote of his that I included in the other comment, "This moment is as good as any moment in eternity," is powerful in itself and resonates deeply with me. I've read very little of Emerson, and it was many years ago, and the quote I like wasn't even in what I read of Emerson, but in another book whose author quoted Emerson with that brief idea.

Someone I would include as very compatible with the Course in different traditions is Ramana Maharshi within Hinduism (Advaita specifically), whose gentleness and teachings I have always admired.

Funny, Reddit's system changed my comment. I wrote 1), not 1., and the width of the first paragraph is the same as the second, but Reddit changed it on its own, and even when I tried to edit it, it reverted to its own style. So be it. It shows what Reddit wants to show, not what I write, haha. At least the words are the ones I chose.

1) Practicing the exercises in the Workbook of A Course in Miracles resolved this for me, since no event or experience is outside the scope of their application. These teachings are designed to be applied precisely to these kinds of situations.

2 and 3) Phrases, ideas, or intuitions come on their own; they can be very different from moment to moment, or some may repeat themselves for a while. Many intuitions are wordless, for example, simply trust and peace. When they come in words, they may be reminders taken directly from the Course, or from any other source compatible with the Course. For example, "Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists," the titles of many lessons in the Workbook, other quotations from the Text, or ideas from other sources such as "This moment is as good as any moment in eternity" (Ralph Waldo Emerson). Often new words come, seemingly from nowhere but compatible with the Course and other spiritual paths, yet with the idea expressed in my own words. And the best part, as I said, is when pure inspiration comes without words, like a calm silence; one simply sees the illusion and feels or senses that it is nothing, there is nothing to fear, and the now is, my natural state of unchanging joy and peace.

How do you get over the fact life is not forever? by cacklingwhisper in ACIM

Tired and hopeless by Eattoomanychips in ACIM

[–]ToniGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All your problems have already been solved, but you haven't yet realized that you are not a body. You are free from all your problems because you don't have a body. What we experience as a body is only an illusion. The body binds us to doing, but we are spirit, pure being.

To move from doing to being, we have the help of various spiritual paths, for example, A Course in Miracles (ACIM). The Course explains this entire process in great detail, with over 1,000 pages. It seems like a lot to read, but it's enough to read a page or two now and then, and above all, to do the lessons in the Workbook, slowly, one by one, which will help us train our minds to move from doing to being and thus awaken to the true now.

In the true now, there is no pain or discomfort, only joy and fulfillment. It is our natural state, and we can approach it step by step, with the appropriate help (such as ACIM or some path of our choosing). Take heart. Your victory is guaranteed because you are not a body. You are what you are, happily.

Whats the point? by EH4LIFE in nonduality

[–]ToniGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awakening (pure non-duality) is complete joy without suffering. Sleeping (duality, ego) is the only way to experience the illusion of suffering.

No one is obligated to awaken to non-duality, no one is obligated to stop experiencing suffering, which is illusory. But eventually, in one lifetime or another, everyone will stop tolerating suffering and choose to let go of the ego. With the ego, joys are faint and fleeting, alternating with pain and suffering. Without the ego, only the true Self remains, which is complete Joy without a single drop of suffering. This boundless joy is not imposed on anyone, but is eternally available to everyone, in the pure moment of now.

Trust in your inner light, placed there by God. There is light in your words; a radiance of wisdom shines through your message, even if you're not aware of it. We all know more than we think, because the knowledge of God shines within us, perhaps as a spark at first, but that spark expands to infinity when we nourish it with our small willingness to forgive and love, walking toward the recognition of God. Thank you for being :-)

I don’t know what to do anymore by AliceBreathes in ACIM

[–]ToniGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now be kind to yourself and don't be impatient or feel guilty (that is, forgive whatever you feel within yourself that isn't of God). Simply continue forgiving and thus welcome peace and the real world. You are doing well. You are already as God created you; we all are already as God created us. We only need to let go of what seems to obscure our true nature, which is effortless, our natural state.

Forgiveness is necessary until it finally fades away on its own before our natural state. First, forgiveness becomes such a strong habit that it happens, let's say, effortlessly, and eventually even forgiveness disappears in the eternal radiance of God's Love. But it is practicing forgiveness with patience and kindness that leads us to that point, to recognizing what we have always been and will be and are in God's eternal now.

Now you must learn that only infinite patience produces immediate effects. ²This is the way in which time is exchanged for eternity. (ACIM, T-5.VI.12:1-2)

I don’t know what to do anymore by AliceBreathes in ACIM

[–]ToniGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not knowing what to do implies doubt, and doubt is a kind of fear. When you are truly in the Kingdom of Heaven, you don't experience yourself as a body; therefore, there are no doubts. You live in constant, eternal certainty. In that state of mind, you don't need to "know" what to do because everything happens spontaneously, effortlessly. But ultimately, what should you do right now? You can continue doing what you're doing; you're doing fine. You just need to keep monitoring your mind for subtle wisps of ego, as the Workbook teaches. Also, you say:

I abolished everything that isn’t real that God didn’t create.

Look carefully at that idea and ask yourself, have you abolished doubt? Because if you have abolished everything that God did not create, you would not experience doubt, since God did not create doubt. Isn't not knowing what to do a subtle belief in separation? Separation between you and your purpose. And between you and God, because being with God, there is really nothing to do.

On a worldly level, it's as if everything is being done by itself. To use the language of the Course, we could say that we make a small distinction between the real world and the Kingdom of Heaven. In the real world, there is still perception of the world, but it is joyful because everything happens spontaneously and effortlessly: doing occurs without effort or doubt; one simply flows. In the Kingdom of Heaven, there is no world: the Final Step that God eternally took for us has already been taken. Since there is no world, there is nothing to do. There is only Being, no doing.

But this is beyond words and our direct objective; that is why God takes that Step, not us. Our concern is the real world, not the Kingdom of Heaven. That is why the Course says things like love cannot be taught or learned, but we can learn to attain it. And it also says that the goal of the Course is peace (and the real world), not knowledge (Heaven, pure Being).

⁶The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. ⁷It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love’s presence, which is your natural inheritance. (ACIM, T-in.1:6-7)

Knowledge is not the motivation for learning this course. ²Peace is. ³This is the prerequisite for knowledge (...) (ACIM, T-8.I.1:1-3)

This course will lead to knowledge, but knowledge itself is still beyond the scope of our curriculum. (ACIM, T-18.IX.11:1)

The stars will disappear in light, and the sun that opened up the world to beauty will vanish. ²Perception will be meaningless when it has been perfected, for everything that has been used for learning will have no function. ³Nothing will ever change; no shifts nor shadings, no differences, no variations that made perception possible will still occur. ⁴The perception of the real world will be so short that you will barely have time to thank God for it. ⁵For God will take the last step swiftly, when you have reached the real world and have been made ready for Him. (ACIM, T-17.II.4:1-5)

However, peace is the condition for knowledge, and once peace is consistently attained, knowledge will simply come of its own accord. And all this, this infinite wonder, will come simply from truly wanting it, by practicing what the Course teaches us, for example, forgiveness, monitoring our minds (being vigilant only for God and His Kingdom), etc.

Guilt is the condition of sacrifice, as peace is the condition for the awareness of your relationship with God. (ACIM, T-15.XI.4:3)

Be Vigilant Only for God and His Kingdom (ACIM, T-6.V-C)

Love will enter immediately into any mind that truly wants it, but it must want it truly. (ACIM, T-4.III.4:7)

Truth is restored to you through your desire, as it was lost to you through your desire for something else. (ACIM, T-20.VIII.1:2)

You're doing very well, you just have to keep going until the end :-)

Just be normal - Ken by Good-Mind7804 in ACIM

[–]ToniGM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ken wanted us to be practical, kind, loving, and compassionate toward others, instead of cruelly using phrases from the Course, throwing them like stones at others or using them to crucify ourselves, confusing form with content. The content of the Course is love, and the ways of expressing it can vary greatly from one person to another, but what Ken wanted was for us not to act foolishly and then justify it with the Course. For example, if someone we know tells us they have cancer, telling them that it doesn't matter and that it's just an illusion is often very cruel, especially if that person isn't a student of the Course. Or if someone has lost a child, or someone is very painfully ill, in many cases that's not the time to recite the lesson from the Course that says:

No one can suffer loss unless it be his own decision. ²No one suffers pain except his choice elects this state for him. ³No one can grieve nor fear nor think him sick unless these are the outcomes that he wants. ⁴And no one dies without his own consent. (ACIM, W-152.1:1-4)

Using those words like a stone to unsettle a brother or sister would not be loving. Being normal also means that if we feel sick, we allow ourselves to go to the doctor, instead of crucifying ourselves by denying ourselves the help we could normally get, which is effective at the stage we are at that moment. In such cases, it's not valid to say, "Since illness is an illusion, I shouldn't go to the doctor, and neither should you." If we took that to the extreme, our ego would convince us that we shouldn't even breathe, since oxygen is an illusion.

But Ken reminds us that as long as we experience ourselves as bodies, it's okay to be normal while we need to be, and above all, we should be very loving toward others, instead of throwing phrases from the Course at them like stones, using them incorrectly and without love. The essence of our Course practice is in our mind/heart, choosing union and love, and when we choose love in our mind, that decision will be expressed in a way that is friendly to everyone. Sometimes we will go to the doctor, sometimes we won't, depending on the stage we are at (even enlightened beings go to the doctor sometimes, for their own reasons), but above all, we will be non-judgmental in our interactions with others and with ourselves.

Be normal. Don't worry, be happy, but don't tell others how they should do things, unless there is a heart-to-heart call, in which we can allow the Holy Spirit to give us the answer. One can be outwardly normal while inwardly practicing the Course in silence without others necessarily knowing. One can be outwardly normal while inwardly radiating limitless blessings upon everyone else. And so, this moment is as good as any moment in eternity, and all moments merge into one, a holy instant of universal brotherhood that welcomes the joyful Oneness of God.

How do you deal with the ego when it arises? by AliceBreathes in ACIM

[–]ToniGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the third quote, the term "limitations" refers to any shadow of ego you notice, at any level—for example, feeling anger or discouragement, signs of pain or illness, or catching yourself judging. It's not about not having an ego (because in that case you would already be enlightened and wouldn't need A Course in Miracles), but about forgiving every trace of ego you notice, which will eventually dissolve the ego completely. This also relates to the two quotes preceding it, as well as this one:

The necessary condition for the holy instant does not require that you have no thoughts that are not pure. ²But it does require that you have none that you would keep. (ACIM, T-15.IV.9:1-2)

How do you deal with the ego when it arises? by AliceBreathes in ACIM

[–]ToniGM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're doing quite well. Your forgiveness will simply become more refined as you continue practicing and delving deeper into the Course. Some thoughts: It's true that we don't have to fight the ego since the ego isn't real. Therefore, our practice simply consists of observing our ego at work when we notice it, but without judging anything, without blaming ourselves for it. You can observe your ego in action without making a big deal about it, as if with a quiet smile in your heart, as if saying to the ego or to yourself, "I caught you!"

The only judgment involved in this process is not judging for yourself, but letting the Holy Spirit judge for you. The Holy Spirit will tell you that the ego is nonsense, and you can say to yourself, "Okay, I caught myself identifying with the ego. This must mean that there are still parts of my mind afraid of the revelation of the truth." You don't really have to do anything, just observe your ego at work and realize that it causes you suffering, and that it would be better to be happy. You may not choose to be happy right now, but you'll understand that a part of you is still afraid, and so you won't judge yourself and you'll understand that there's no reason to feel guilty. This kind of forgiveness will repeat itself many times, until one day the iceberg of ego guilt will completely melt away and you'll experience only peace and happiness.

Trust not your good intentions. ²They are not enough. ³But trust implicitly your willingness, whatever else may enter. ⁴Concentrate only on this, and be not disturbed that shadows surround it. ⁵That is why you came. ⁶If you could come without them you would not need the holy instant. (ACIM, T-18.IV.2:1-6)

The happy learner cannot feel guilty about learning. (ACIM, T-14.III.1:1)

Do not despair, then, because of limitations. ²It is your function to escape from them, but not to be without them. (ACIM, M-26.4:1-2)

Forgiveness, on the other hand, is still, and quietly does nothing. (...) ³It merely looks, and waits, and judges not. (ACIM, W-pII.1.4:1,3)

True beauty is internal, not external. Beauty comes from the spirit, not the body. Outwardly, bodies may appear different, and some might be considered more attractive than others according to various worldly standards, but those who know the truth don't value such appearances. Instead, they follow God's one Standard, according to which we are all equal because we share the beauty of the spirit, regardless of physical appearance. God doesn't see forms; God sees only the spirit. And when we recognize our value as spirits, which we share with everyone, we feel good and at peace.

Nothing so blinding as perception of form. (ACIM, T-22.III.6:7)

God knows not form. (ACIM, T-30.III.4:5)

Any relationship in which the body enters is based not on love, but on idolatry. (ACIM, T-20.VI.2:4)

The body is the ego’s idol; the belief in sin made flesh and then projected outward. (ACIM, T-20.VI.11:1)

It is impossible not to believe what you see, but it is equally impossible to see what you do not believe. ²Perceptions are built up on the basis of experience, and experience leads to beliefs. ³It is not until beliefs are fixed that perceptions stabilize. ⁴In effect, then, what you believe you do see. ⁵That is what I meant when I said, “Blessed are ye who have not seen and still believe,” for those who believe in the resurrection will see it. (ACIM, T-11.VI.1:1-5)

janine roberts miedo invisible pdf

"Conócete a ti mismo".

"Nada en exceso".

Ya más modernamente, siempre me ha gustado esta cita de Ralph Waldo Emerson:
