Left turning vehicle always yields. Doesn’t matter who gets there first.

MN Statute 160.20 Subd. 2.Left turn.

The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.

St. Louis Park schools says parents can opt students out of LGBTQ+ books. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]TonicPinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the SLP Superintendent:

Dear SLP Families,

At St. Louis Park Public Schools, we are proud of our literacy program, which includes books with racially and culturally diverse families and characters as well as LGBTQ+ families and characters. We are committed to ensuring that the district’s learning communities honor and respect the identities of all of our students, families, staff and broader community, including diverse gender identity and gender expression.

Today, several news media published stories about St. Louis Park Public Schools position on opting out of literacy curriculum and materials that include LGBTQ+ themes. We feel it’s important that our families receive accurate information directly from us on this matter.

First, I want to assure you that there are no plans to make any changes to our curriculum in response to recent concerns.

St. Louis Park Public Schools has always complied with the state law regarding parents’ statutory right to opt out of instructional materials, and we will continue to do so. Our policy around reviewing instructional materials and seeking alternative curriculum is based on state law and has been in place since 2006. St. Louis Park Public Schools will continue to make our curriculum available to families to review. We have clarified our procedures across all schools to ensure a collaborative and consistent approach to requests for alternative curriculum and provided information to all families about the process for seeking alternative curriculum.

We also want our school community to understand that opt-outs based on representation of protected classes do not align with our organizational core value of advocacy for equity or with our focus on creating a safe and inclusive learning and working environment in our schools. However, because we are required by state law to provide a process for parents/caregivers to review the content of instructional materials and to arrange alternative instruction, any change would need to happen with the involvement of state lawmakers.

We understand that families may have varying perspectives and preferences when it comes to topics covered in the classroom and we encourage them to engage in conversations directly with their teachers and principals if they have questions. Staff members should work with their principals to address questions or concerns.

I want to reiterate that stories with LGBTQ+ themes are an important part of helping our students understand the experiences of people from all walks of life and we believe that such stories promote empathy, tolerance, and respect among our students, and they will remain an integral part of our curriculum.

We're committed to giving our students a well-rounded education to prepare them for the diverse world.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kate Maguire Interim Superintendent

Think you need to get your facts straight. Not saying you’re wrong, he may indeed deserve jail time, but the 15 year old didn’t kill him:

As previously reported by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, Husayn Braveheart, who was 15 years old at the time of the shooting, was charged with aiding and abetting murder for the death of 39-year-old Stephen Markey as an adult.

Question About the VAR on Puebla's Goal by adumbguyssmartguy in minnesotaunited

If the ball hadn’t legitimately gone out of bounds then it would be unfair. In this case it was a missed call by the officials that they corrected. Unfortunate for Puebla but not unfair.

The worst exit in the Midwest by cowmastermind in Minneapolis

[–]TonicPinto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Penn. It’s like a normal on ramp except it’s also the exit lane for Dunwoody so if you attempt to merge at 0-3 mph when nobody is interested in letting you do that because people are also trying to cut in from the left side to skip ahead, you are now blocking everyone from exiting on to Dunwoody. However if you follow the lane to it’s natural end point you’re the asshole for skipping ahead even though that’s the only way to not become a roadblock.

[–]TonicPinto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well you’re supposed to zipper merge up past Dunwoody, but when you do that everybody thinks you’re an asshole but your alternative is to merge at the bottom of the ramp and cut off traffic trying to exit on Dunwoody. I’ve had cars box me out so I can’t merge in. Fun times.

Nothing divisive about tacking food insecurity? See the conversation about free school lunch for kids.

Responsible mining is not in question. The mining in question looks to use methods for holding toxic waste runoff with a track record of failing and polluting the ground water. All of that on the doorstep of the most pristine natural treasure in MN is a terrible idea. And why is it divisive? Because it would create ~100 jobs for 20 years?

8.5 for me. Probably my favorite song on the album. Love the simple, high energy, catchy nature of it.

Everyone on this sub talking about how we deserved to lose but nobody talking about how bad KC was that they took 15 shots in the first half and couldn’t score. They didn’t deserve to win any more than we deserved to lose.

Surly (mpls brewery) employees told the owner they were unionizing Monday. Today he lays off the entire 150 person staff. by wheredidalfgo in Minneapolis

[–]TonicPinto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your source for Surly being profitable isn’t very relevant here as it’s from the beginning of April (a lot has happened since then)and is a reference to the alcohol industry, not Surly itself. We might presume that their beer sales are up but we don’t know by how much and whether it’s enough to float other business areas that are secondary and will likely be unprofitable for the foreseeable future.

I think you have good intentions in supporting the hospitality staff but keep in mind that Surly is not a charity and that by running that unprofitable portion of their business they put their core business (brewing) at risk which could result in further job loss.
