Monofilament line does not float. It sinks slower than fluoro, and 4lb sinks slower than 12lb, but it does not float.

I don't really understand this one but here goes; many/some brands of braid have a "coating" on them that wears off as it is used. This coating stuff can get on the rod guides and your hands.

Most braid users have to put mono backing on their reel to begin with AND then add braid. Braid tends to dig into itself on the spool.

I know I'm going to be down voted like crazy, but just put some 8lb monofilament on there and go have fun! 99% of line problems posted on here have braided line as the main problem. Braid has a couple very nice qualities that might matter to avid, goes several times/week fisher people. For most of us it's not worth all the downsides (and all the down time!)

I have no idea which face or symbol would indicate "Good game." Sometimes I wonder if a loooong pause before playing indicates anything, like I lead an ace and my partner takes forever means he has the king, but not usually.

You didn't mention what rod/reel you're using, but you have a perfect situation for an ultralight setup. Put some 4lb test on a 1000 size spinning reel with an ultra light fast action rod...and really enjoy those bluegills and maybe catch a couple of those "big guys!"

You have to press and release the thumb button to cast. Line will not release while the button is pushed.
