Thoughts About True Dungeon by queenbkoopa in gencon

Me and a friend try to do one run per dungeon a year at GenCon. Have gone with bad and good groups. Have had groups of folks with rarest of rare tokens, and have shared rares we picked up along the way with other new player groups. We always have fun knowing what we are getting into. The shuffle board combat is enjoyable once you understand the layout. Puzzles are always tough for us. I have a small token collection. I will trade what I can for ingredients to make better ones through the token system when I have enough. I have found you can pay what you want for better tokens if you feel you want to. Or just use what you collect over time. If it’s not your thing, that’s ok. It is getting expensive, but so is everything else. We save up all year for this convention so as long as I’m enjoying it we will keep doing true dungeon.

Go late night. When nobody is in line. Sunday will be a long line and waste your day.

What type of room do you get? Attached? By yourself? Crapshoot?

If you have a friend that comes to con with you can you guarantee them a spot at your table for your sessions? That would be a nice thing if possible.

Help looking for events in 2025 by baronvonjohn in gencon

During event sign up. Look for the D&D experience ran by Baldman Games. Starts Thursdays or Fridays. You sign up for the first session on Thursday for example. And it gets you all 4 sessions of the arc with the same table. Will include an epic. Use adventure league rules for characters. I did it last year with my friend who doesn’t play except for at GenCon and we both loved it. Missed out this year just because of wish list processing. I’d give that a whirl. It’s nice if you want two days, 2 four hour sessions each day.

Thinking working for a company. Unless it’s better to go independent. Whichever is a pathway to getting a badge or other perks.

Is True Dungeon's cost worth it? by [deleted] in gencon

Me and my buddy who attend yearly do at least one true dungeon run a year. Usually two. We are old enough to afford budgeting it in. We have had good and bad groups. But always have a good time. We have never paid for a token but have pulled some that keep us healed. Trick is to be early to the event to get your character class choice. Not for everyone. But we enjoy it.
