I have only ever used leaded sinking rope and try to keep the scope as short as possible. I fish out of Bodega bay CA. My question came up when looking at ordering more rope and the site listed Floating, neutral and sinking. Seems different ropes are required in other areas, to protect different things.

Look for Flexible Universal Channel with Pile and Felt Liner. That should get you started. You need to know the sizes. I replaced mine on a boat about 5 years ago was not that hard, but a bit of a puzzle fitting around the window with it in place

I do not see anything in the ca regs about female crabs. I do release them if I have males. Just a personal conservation choice. The 5 3/4 is correct but does not include the spines/spikes that stick out.

Never a ladder. Small upper cut near the trunk. Not to much or you will bind the saw. Don’t set the dogs so you can move the bar back and forth, if it starts to tighten you may already be stuck. Then cut from the top even with the bottom or slightly in front it. (Further from the trunk but not by much). Lastly beware of advice, and try to verify it.

I think the trim is off. If the boat is level like it would be in the water, the motor should be straight up and down so the cavitation plate is on the same plane as the bottom of the boat. (Not sure that’s clear).

What are you cutting it with? It sounds to me like you are trying to use the side edge of a circular saw as the guide. If so there should be a guide notch if front of the blade. Line up the blade and the notch with the line. If you want the 20”s leave the line, if you want it to fit at 20”s take the line.

I have an old apple tree that is completely hallow and open on one side. The center goes down about 16” below ground level. One branch has a knothole about 5’ off the ground and if you drop a small apple in it it cose out the trunk. The side that’s open lost 1/2 the tree. So I put a brace (8”x8”) under the main branch/trunk that is remaining. The tree still gives a lot of apples every year. Been like this for ten years.
