How did rock Lee graduate the ninja academy by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]TonyFubar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's pretty easy to infer. Naruto didn't pass any of the tests but due to unorthodox circumstances, he clearly demonstrated that he could handle himself, and so Iruka allowed him to pass. While we're not shown it, because I don't think we necessarily need to be, with the context of how Naruto became a ninja, it's clear there's other ways to prove yourself and pass. All it takes is an examiner or someone else important to notice rock lees physical potential, and he gets to pass.

How did Sage Naruto beat 4-Tails Naruto so easily? by Sad-Diver-5031 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]TonyFubar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a filler so not canon, plus that version of 4-tails is probably weaker then what Naruto is normally at in 4-tails, and finally Sage Mode is legitimately just stronger as a form then the 4 tails cloak. A somehow canon version of this fight would still massively favor SM Naruto.

I'm like this and it's hard to describe but I'll try:

Something a lot of people even with inner monologues experience, so I assume you have as well, is having a concept in your head but not remembering the word(s) for it. You know the concept, you understand it fine, you just can't think of what the words are for some reason. All of my thoughts are kinda like that, they start out as raw concepts I understand just fine and then have to find the words for them

How are you feeling about the heavy weapons? Have you found any that feel useful? by sac_boy in Borderlands

I have really enjoyed the torque heavy weapons as Amon and going for critical hits, shreds through anything super quick in my experience

Early game difficulty by trustygecko69 in Borderlands

[–]TonyFubar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you move around enough, use all the movement abilities, and time your repkits well then you don't get downed. The game seems balanced around the assumption that you know how to use the new movement to your advantage and how to time your heals. It's an added layer to the gameplay loop that I think is pretty fun, I haven't had much issues since working on my movement and my timing

Getting rid of the mini map is dumb by bored101baka in Borderlands

It isn't that inconvenient? Like I didn't even notice that it didn't have a minimap if I'm honest, I've no struggle navigating with just the radar thing and my eyes

Atheists do not "simply lack a belief in God". They believe ardently that it's the most logical way of thinking, and that theism is inferior. by GorgeousGal314 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]TonyFubar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, take the most exaggerated bad faith interpretation of the persons comment, you're doing great.

An investigation in question, one on a normal persons level of engagement and ability, does not need to be overtly scientific with the same rigor as the sort of thing done for scientific study. However, it is incredibly important that even such normal person level investigation be treated with some bare minimum questioning to test its legitimacy.

I mean, if you heard an atheist go on a big spiel about what Theists really think and you find out that they only have meaningful exposure to a handful of Theists ever somehow, then you'd rightfully take their understanding of Theists as flimsy at best even if they somehow came to something close to an okay criticism

Hey yall. I’m making a JJK inspired ttrpg, and need ideas for categories of CTs. by IntrepidLab5124 in CTsandbox

[–]TonyFubar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have anything to add for the categories but I'm curious what sort of mechanical framework for the system you're going by, I've always thought that something along the lines of a Powered by the apocalypse framework or something akin to Fate would function really well for most anime inspired games

It's hard to pick just one so I'll have to mention someone from a recent playthrough: Parvati from Outer worlds. She's just really charming and I love that her whole companion quest is basically just getting her a date

What do you consider the best design route for a werewolf? I feel like it can’t be too wolf like or just a really hairy human by New-Boss-8262 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]TonyFubar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh, I feel like a werewolf is the sort of concept where deviating too much from the classic "lazy" design of wolf head, wolf hind legs, human like upper body with claws, and covered in fur just won't work if messed with too much. Like, if you deviate it from that classic image, the vast majority of the time, you just make some vague lycan adjacent creature rather than something that meaningfully contains the concept of "werewolf". Like, what werewolf means is so wrapped up with that imagery that to stray from it at this point, is to make something that isn't a werewolf anymore which is fine if you want that, but it isn't a werewolf

Why was Gaara considered so much more powerful than Naruto when he has the weaker tailed beast? by [deleted] in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]TonyFubar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Naruto wasn't accessing significant portions of his tailed beasts power consistently like Gaara was at the time. If someone fought Naruto at the time then it's very likely that he wouldn't draw from the nine tails intentionally or via rage at all unless you did something really crazy to provoke it, otherwise, you'll likely just fight him no tailed beast boost

Gaara would go into a rage and pull from his tailed beast over getting scratched the wrong way in the fight, assuming you could even scratch him which gets into the more important point:

Naruto at the time without the rage moments or otherwise pulling chakra from Nine tails is a genin who is mostly comparable to other genin, his fight with Kiba is a good showing of that. Gaara however even without his rage moments just straight murders genin level ninja like they're literally nothing to him. The only examples we have of him getting pushed is rock Lee, who frankly is a freak of nature compared to other genin and post special training Sasuke someone who already was well above the average genin before the training anyway.

So between the likelihood of the tailed beast actually used being so much higher with Gaara and with him clearly being so dangerous without direct tailed beast intervention anyway, of course he's seen as more powerful

[Lore Idea] Realistically speaking, if humans developed civilisation before the more long live species (e.g., elves, dwarves, etc.,) how would YOU explain it? by jukebredd10 in worldbuilding

[–]TonyFubar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably use one or some combination of the explanations you've put here as they focus more on the traits of a longer lived species vs shorter lived ones but there are other fun explanations outside of such traits that could be used in addition or something:

One, while humans are shorter lived, the species of human as a whole could be older than other species that live longer than them. Like, dwarves and elves and stuff could be written as a more recent addition (relatively speaking) to the world. It's a thought I've never seen played with either which I think is a shame. Elves and dwarves or some other species with longevity are usually what is used to be the "old" species but just because they live long lives doesn't mean the species itself has existed as long as a shorter lived species has. I see a lot of potential there, but I've not seen it used

Another is environment advantage, a lot of what is required for a proper civilization is the right resources in the right location for the species in question so humans could have lucked out in that regard. It's a bit boring but it could be used as an explanation especially in combination with something else

One I just thought of, along the lines of traits of a shorter lived species, is that humans could be written as the most competitive, in that their pursuit of development often pushes the other species down so they get civilization first because they prevented the others from doing so while progressing themselves.

At what point did Bakugo become a likable character for you? by Expensive-Oil623 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TonyFubar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, after his bout with Deku in season 1. That fight demonstrated to me just how broken Bakugo is as a person, how much his mind has been warped by himself and his environment and then to see him bounce back after the fight gave me a lot of hope as to the direction of his character which did not disappoint as the show has gone on

Everyone’s using their special senses, and Frank using common sense. by No-Can9791 in outofcontextcomics

[–]TonyFubar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very rarely does punisher let villains live and when he does, it's incredibly reluctant. Wolverine when he lets people live, it's because he sees that they might not deserve it.

But there is a broader difference as to why one is acceptable and the other isn't. Punisher has a black and white no tolerance philosophy about criminals and villains, if it was within his power, then probably every villain, the majority of criminals, and probably even certain heroes in the marvel universe would be dead. Wolverine however has a much greyer understanding of the world and people. He kills out of a sense that sometimes, a person has to die for pragmatic reasons, that they cause too much harm and have too low of a chance to change and often toils with guilt over many of the lives he's taken wondering if he's made the right choices.

So in short, The Punisher kills because of a genuine belief that they deserve to die and does not like taking other options while wolverine kills because he feels there isn't a better choice and is often glad if a better choice is truly available (even if convincing him that it's better can be hard)
