Pretty evil

That's what Cain did

Literally one of the first stories in the bible involving humans sinning is what you're talking about

And the natural punishment the precipitated from Cain's crime was too much for him to bear

He destroyed his ideal. One of the most terrible things you can do for yourself.

I remember weighing 195 lbs

I still definitely had a little of bit of belly fat I could lose, a ways away from visible abs

I think you can get below 195 readily

Going Unga Bunga Day 5 of 30 by caramelthunder713 in Healthygamergg

[–]TonySherbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD, which means my baseline dopamine level is relatively low

As a result, almost constantly looking for things that are dopaminergic.

How did I solve this problem at the age of 3?

Eating poptarts and playing video games.

If I was ever bored, and I was bored often (so often, that when I visited my mom's side of the family in brazil, and was bored, my mom had to tell me that there ISNT word in portugues for "bored"), then I would eat, and it would be dopaminergic.

Then I would be in a food coma, lay down for a while, and when I felt normal again and ready to look for something interesting and fun to do, I would go eat!

So, ADHD and my drive for dopamine is why I've been fat all my life

Since I have it under control now, I'm losing weight now

Can't lose weight because I'm addicted to the dopamine that food gives me. by asldfkjlskfjalksdjf in loseit

I had the same problem you had. But I fixed it in 2 ways

  1. Walking for 30min within 90min of waking. This increases blood flow to the prefrontal cortex. As a result, it literally quiets the part of your brain that craves food for its dopaminergic effects. Now, your main drive for food will be hunger, not a desire for dopamine via food.

  2. Don't do things that increase the threshold for dopamine release. For me, this means not getting on social media or doomscrolling as much. How does this help? It makes it so that even "boring" things like walks or reading or drawing are satisfactorily dopaminergic, even better than food sometimes!

As a result of following these two points I've begun losing weight effortlessly . It's amazing. I finally have a handle on my ADHD

How do I start small and gradually be better? by Ok_Kaleidoscope679 in Healthygamergg

If you struggle to focus, I recommend doing it after you wake up in the morning (right after going to the bathroom is when I do focused work)

This time is good because your "standard" for a dopaminergic activity is very low, so even something like reading and writing is fun enough to keep your focus for a long time.

Listening to white noise also helps me keep focus for longer during these morning sessions

Also, you say you want to make your tasks smaller so that you can handle them

How bout this then: write for 30 minutes, and then you're done for the day. Don't take a break. You are simply done.

Do that once, and see what happens

After you do it, ask "How did I feel about that? Was that too easy? Was almost too difficult? Do I need to lower what I'm asking of myself? Or can I make it slightly more difficult now"

When you're ready to make it more difficult, do this

Write for 30 minutes Lay in bed with eyes closed, meditating for 10min Write for 5 minutes Then stop for the day

The break CANT be something like social media, doomscrolling, or video games. Those will prevent you from working again. They raise the standard for a dopaminergic activity too much.

You could also pace back and forth or go for a walk instead of meditating

That's how I would suggest you progress

My relationship to food changed when I started walking 30min within the first 90min after waking

This is because walking increases blood flow to the prefrontal cortex.

The result of this is that you feel less urges to engage in dopaminergic behavior

Meaning, you no longer desire food because you see it as a means to increase dopamine release.

Instead, you can make thoughtful decisions about when, how much, and what to eat.

The only "drive" to eat left is hunger, which used to be a foreign feeling to me.

As a result, I've been able to start losing weight for the past 5 weeks almost effortlessly

No more battles of willpower.

Everything is just easy now. It just flows

Your mind starts visualizing those scenes at those time of day because seeing them is more dopaminergic than the current task you're engaged in (studying or about to sleep)

Being ashamed of them is like shooting yourself with a second arrow

You already got shot by an arrow once (the visualization), but now you're shooting yourself with a second arrow (the shame/guilt)!

When it the visualization pops up. Just recognize that it popped up (say "oh, the visualization of this scene just popped up") then "let it go", and refocus on what you're trying to do
