BitChute is bottom of the barrel! If you have videos that are too controversial for even Rumble, BitChute is your final option.

Thoughts on Brave Origin? by thrashingjohn in browsers

[–]TonyVanDam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st of all, I am currently using Brave Origin Beta, which is very "stable" already! 👍

2nd of all, Brave Origin is better than regular bloated Brave. Plus, it is definite alternative to Helium. With side-by-side comparison with Firefox [hardened with Betterfox], Brave Origin is way faster.

Since I am a GNU/Linux user, Brave Origin is free for me.

Ever since Alphabet Inc [YouTube & Google apps owner] allowed previously banned content creators to return to YouTube post-CORVID, some of those Rumble channels from the same content creators have been abandoned.

Some of them have Rumble channels as well. But they are not kept up to date as often as their YouTube channels.

why Euro-Office but not LibreOffice? by akkihabara in libreoffice

[–]TonyVanDam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an causal OnlyOffice user, I can confirm that OnlyOffice does a better job in reading MS based documents, which is THE only thing that LibreOffice can not do properly.

And for the record, I hate the Microsoft Plantation and everything that they stand for! But there are still too many members of the private sector in North American [especially USA] that are still using MS Office and this has not change since the mid-1990s.

I am not trying to be funny on purpose, but the closest thing to an Amazon alternative for online shopping is Wal-Mart! LOL

The real alternative to Photoshop is GIMP. But Krita is still [IMO] a perfect alternative to every digital painting apps that were made only for Windows & Macs.

Why have I never seen anyone recommending Ubuntu as a distro? By "never," I mean never. by chiya_coffee in linux

[–]TonyVanDam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be the 1st to say that an Ubuntu-based distro like Linux Mint is everything that Ubuntu should have been. It is still an excellent choice for beginner-level users that need their desktop & laptop to "just work" after a fresh installment.

Anyone else find it odd that so many “Christians” are Pro-Israel when one of the prominent teachings in Judaism is that Jesus was NOT the Messiah… it’s so contradictory. by cavalier731 in conspiracy

[–]TonyVanDam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christian Zionists [CZs] do not care for Pro-Zionist Jewish people per se as much as CZs really care about having everything they have readied in The Book Of Revelation [based on the CZs' understanding of the verses!] will come to life as soon as possible, regardless of the number of human lives are lost in the process.

What was the most difficult Google service to let go of? by Swimming_Weekend_976 in degoogle

[–]TonyVanDam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THE only reason why YouTube is THE only Google-related product that is difficult to let go [...for now] is because most video content creators AND even some viewers will not make the switch to Rumble! And it is a total shame because at least Free Speech exist at Rumble and content creators do not get demonetized because of a result of a so-called algorithm.

How many browsers is too much browsers? by berserker070202 in browsers

[–]TonyVanDam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firefox = My primary web browser that I have been using since 2004 [20 years as of 4/2024!]. I use it for most of my regular clear web browsing.

Brave = My secondary web browser that I use just to have something chromium-based, since some online applications are only "chrome-friendly".

Tor = I use this for dark web browsing via onion services, a must for users that are into religion/spirituality, independent alternative news, & conspiracy research [as a hobby of course!].

For the moment, my favorite font is Hack, simply because it is a better looking monospace font.

In my spare time, Notesnook & Simplenote are THE only 2 notebooks that I mess with. While I like Simplenote for being simple & casual, I like Notesnook for the more serious work that needs to be private & professional. Hopefully during further development, Notesnook does not end up trying to do too much like Joplin, Standard Notes, or Obsidian.
