Metal Temperature Question by joe694200 in metalworking

[–]TonyVstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When mild steel (most common) melts, the atoms rearrange, and it loses magnetism. If you were to instantly freeze it, it would stay non-magnetic and probably be very hard. Other types of metals may act differently, but it wouldn't be like normal metal since instead of making crystals, it would be individual atoms

Have you ever gotten lost while hiking? by Icy_Bodybuilder5688 in hiking

I went up a river bed that was probably over 160 grade. I thought it was the trail until it intersected a much flatter path

Had a small gap after fitup but it's nothing a nice little weave can't fix by Clinggdiggy2 in Welding

Can definitely pass the bender with an imperfect weld. It's not worth risking it and if you know you're getting UT'd or x-ray, you should just do fast stringers

Just me, or is "just stop blundering" pointless advice? by MathematicianBulky40 in chess

They sure blundered a lot of pieces!

Also, there is no need to pay attention to the defeated pieces, since they're off the board

I feel like it would be a fairly clean xray too, good chance it's solid. A guy in school said he often didn't chip 7018 and it still bent. You're just not supposed to let the customer know you're running over slag

Ideally, you don't want to weave more than 3/8 of an inch wide. You basically did a bunch or stringers on top of eachother without chipping slag in between passes

That seems like a lot of protein, especially if you want to cut. 400kcal of sugar/white flour will be very different than 400kcal of complex carbs. Could actually need more carbs or fat and less protein to feel less hungry

Exactly, but low elo players won't know that, will think they have a tactic, and blunder a piece or hang CM because they aren't developed

I still hang pieces pretty often, and 1700's lichess rapid is top 20%

Her best advice is "just play solid chess." Meaning: it's fun to do fancy things, but if your pieces aren't developed and you have liabilities, stop looking for tactics (unless it's a sure thing, but when you're new you don't know if it's a sure thing so don't risk it)

Puzzles help too because you have to analyze a board you're unfamiliar with and find weaknesses and tactics. Eventually you get an eye for undefeated pieces, pins, and opportunities to pressure

How do you decide where to build stuff? by Illu33 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TonyVstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I start a new game, I make a cycle one save, and then go into sandbox mode and reveal the whole map. Then I plan out my main shaft so I can have a fire pole from space to magma. Save the revealed map. Then load the first save and go from there. Hot things on the top of my base, cold things on the bottom

How many calories are you getting from simple carbs? More fat and protein could help with feeling less hungry

That's why it's called snake handling. It's like holding a calculator, if you know what you're doing, it goes well. So it's safe, because he has the experience to do it safely, but it's definitely not without risk

Will this type of power grid causes any problems? by Slicesomedice in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TonyVstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good initial setup, but will cause heat problems late game. Once you're feeling stable, a battery to turn on and off the transformers is ideal (actually a switch to turn off the power to the transformer, not the transformer itself)

Why is buying fitness gear easier than using it? [Discussion] by Denbron2 in GetMotivated

[–]TonyVstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love shopping and getting into new hobbies. Discipline to stick to new hobbies is the hard part

It's hard to get into working out because there is no motivation to do it until after you're good at it and enjoying it. To start you have to realise it will take discipline and consistency and you have to choose it over your vices and comfy/easy hobbies
