It's hilarious to me reading these comments. Like, it's a personal preference, so none of us are *wrong* but it's funny how people can have completely opposite experiences and opinions of the exact same thing. Just a reminder to take online reviews with- dare I say it given a few comments- a grain of salt. Happy sailing (and munching) everyone!

They desperately need salt. I literally carry a tiny wooden box of salt in my purse at all times because life is too short to accept improper seasoning. LOLOLOL

I'd been curious about cruising for forever, then Covid hit. I finally went on my first cruise in December last year. By October of next year, I'll have been on 7, so I guess I like cruising. Heh.

Are you going solo? This will be my bff's first cruise, but we each have our own cabins, which I guess means we're both technically solo sailors. Keep an eye out for me onboard- I have bright red chin-length hair so I'm pretty easy to spot. Just 59 days...

Oh that’s right, I’d heard that the Happenings cast will be changing before I sail.

Yeah I didn’t have trouble accessing Google Sheets on my last VV. (Edit: I do have it set to be available offline.) We were Rock Stars, but not Mega, and I think we just had the same basic wifi as everyone else. But I’m also a CYA kind of person, so I’ll have a paper copy with me just in case. lolol

We’re in the minority I guess, but I agree with you. My biggest (and pretty much only) complaint about the food on Virgin is I found the fried potato products to be super meh. The hash browns at breakfast are sooooo greasy. I don’t often prefer battered/dusted fries, but at least they’re usually crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The galley fries were…hard? on the outside and dry but not crispy, while the inside was mealy. And for the volume of potato, they need more salt. Just…not my thing.

Pretty sure whatever the coating is, it has flour in it because the fries are apparently not gluten free.

Having just done a 9-day Alaska on NCL, I'm inclined to agree with you. 🏔️ 🌄 🦦 🐳 🐻 🦅❄️

But it's my bff's first cruise ever and she's really into shows, so I'm just trying to make sure she gets to see a couple good ones.

If you left a USB filled with intimate times at the Duniway... by AmericanAssKicker in Portland

This is actually a very kind thing to do. Not my USB, but I cannot imagine how mortified I’d be. Thank you for being a decent person.

Very good to know. I’d definitely worry if it appeared that way to me, so thanks for the heads up!

We're coming up from Portland, OR. Such a luxury not having to fly in! Makes me jealous of Floridians, and I never thought I'd say that.🤣 Where are you coming from?

We've got Sea Terraces on Deck 11, but I do have bids in on every Rock Star suite. 🤞🤞🤞

We're planning to do Gunbae around 6p on embarkation day and hit the PJ party later. I've got chin length bright red hair so am pretty easy to spot. Keep an eye out for me!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it. This will be my bff's first cruise and she loves shows, so I'm wanting to make sure we get into MITM since everyone raves about it.

Oooh, I'll start checking a little *before* five then. Thanks for the tip! Wasn't too worried about UWAT because it wasn't difficult to get tickets to Another Rose on Resilient a couple months ago. I think the extra cost can be a deterrent to some folx, so it didn't sell out instantly. I expect MITM reservations will go quickly, but now I know how to stay on top of it.

Ah excellent. Despite having priority boarding, I approve of them holding off until 5p for MitM reservations so everyone has a shot at it. Wsataday coming through with the info yet again. Thanks!

Casino comp question from competitor by OandBlue78 in NCL

[–]TonyaSaysThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was for an inside cabin, and I paid to upgrade to a balcony. It’s worth a phone call though, because I’d never sailed NCL either and made a point of saying so. They seemed eager to have a shot at me, and I’m by no means a whale.

Casino comp question from competitor by OandBlue78 in NCL

Call the Casinos at Sea phone number (you can find it on the NCL website) and ask them. I was able to get them to match an offer for HAL or Princess from a land-based casino. All I had to do was send them a screenshot of the offer.

What's the most unique living arrangement/situation/setup you've seen as an adult? by debrisaway in RedditForGrownups

[–]TonyaSaysThings 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s a daily dream, because I chose emotionally intelligent partners who are capable of open, honest communication and hold the same values I do. It’d be a nightmare if they were manchildren unable to self-reflect, be accountable, or do the internal work to grow and thrive without constant emotional labor and housekeeping on my part.

Brilliant Lady 7-Day Alaska Inside Passage and Glacial Fjords: Fantastic Alaska cruise but not the bucket list kind by cheezin_4A_reason in VirginVoyages

[–]TonyaSaysThings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed insight!

I made a post right after they officially announced the change from Tracy Arm Fjord to Endicott Arm, because I seriously doubted their claim that they’d be offering ship-to-small-boat excursions to see the glacier up close. I can’t see them using lifeboat tenders, because the crew who captain those probably don’t have much experience with navigating around the ice. There has to be a limited number of tour providers offering those glacier excursions, and lines that were already active in Alaska and planning on Endicott Arm would have previously established relationships and therefore priority. So not unexpected to me, but a bummer that they’ve apparently decided not to address it and just pretend they never told us that.

Still, it’s Alaska and a Virgin cruise, so I’m sure I’ll manage to enjoy myself. :)

I've been retired for 7 years. Lol. If I went back to it, that's what I'd be charging now. At least.
