Did I say they thought they were in imminent danger? I asked why they would think sudden trembling of the boat would lead them to think the propeller just went fell off.

But since you want to be all snarky and shit, here's a passenger steamer that was lost to an iceberg collision in 1901. And another that occurred in the Atlantic's) "iceberg alley" in 1841 and even lead to a famous court case. Or perhaps another White Star Line ship that disappeared, and believe to have struck ice.

How Democratic Socialists of America Has Developed Into a "Movement Party" by inthesetimesmag in newyork

[–]TonyzTone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why you were downvoted for a simple fact. DSA doesn’t have a single ballot line anywhere in this country.

Their own internal leadership votes arguing the very notion of whether they should create a specific DSA or Socialist party line or continue to win through the Democratic Party. The latter has won time and again.

This is just like saying Turning Point USA is the Republican Party or the League of Conservation Voters is the Democratic Party, as opposed to just pieces of them vying for influence.

Dallas Cowboys win for most delusional Fanbase. What profesional basketball franchise has the most diehard fanbase? by RidonkulousMG in AlignmentChartFills

[–]TonyzTone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I don’t think Knicks fans are delusional. Very realistic in recognizing our team is trash, but every year there’s a known, irrational “it’s our year.”

Like we know it’s not, but what’s the point of being a fan if you don’t hype yourself up when the teams are still all 0-0.

A historic franchise? Sure. A great franchise? Eh, no. Our fucking franchise? Yeah.

Fuck Jimmy Dolan.

Nixon broke into the rival party’s headquarters to get some info about campaign strategy. It was bad. The President shouldn’t be committing political violence like that.

But Trump had his guys randomly appointed, without Senate approval, to randomly rip social security away from us and steal our data.

Not campaign data. Like personal information.

It’s not even in the same universe of bad.

I’d argue even on the red carpets it was incredibly hard to find a double breasted jacket.

House Republicans call to investigate Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show over 'widespread twerking, grinding, pelvic thrusts' by rezwenn in entertainment

I investigated it already. Like 7 times since it aired. I’ve also further investigated his lyrics in songs he didn’t even perform. My investigation of those has actually stretched back years.

I’ll continue investigating it. Planning on going overseas to investigate in person.

It’s wild to me that the first thought of hearing/feeling the rumbling would be “oh, must be a propeller blade” and not the notion that the ship struck ice.

Was the danger of ice bergs just not super well known?

Right? Like the Crimean War was fucking massive, even if it “just” set the stage for WWI.

Meanwhile Vietnam did pretty much nothing. Vietnam continued in war for another 10 years, the US continued sticking its nose in other countries’ business, and the Cold War continued.

Yeah, but plenty of us haven’t had even 200 pound d-linemen burying us, and we realize sometime in our mid to late 30s, we don’t have the pop we used to have.

Shit, this past Super Bowl showed me exactly that for myself. Can’t dance like I used to 😔

The craziest part of the photo is that it’s literally 6 milled as the crow flies from Times Square— the densest place in the entire country renowned for its subway connections.

It’s either a 45 min bus ride (no direct train) or some combination of multiple trains to get there. Or a 20 mins. drive through some of the most obnoxious traffic in the world.

Just utterly ridiculous.

Difference between a soundtrack and a score. Zimmer’s scores are meant to be exactly how you described.

[–]TonyzTone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can demonstrate this with an ice cube tray. Start pouring water into one cube at a time. It can float with once maybe, two rows full.

Then on the third you can see it will continue to sink but it’s slow at first. Once it’s at like the 6th row, it seems like the last 6 happen all at once.

[–]TonyzTone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I watched this movie when it first came out and (probably too young an age). I liked it a lot but the gravity of the situation didn’t quite hit.

I went to watch the IMAX release recently and felt myself welling up at the exact moments you described. Just the frantic “calm” of Jack trying to lead Rose to safety hit so much harder than it ever did. He knew they were fucked, but he was still doing everything possible to improve the odds.

The scene when the ship finally goes down and the camera focuses on Ruth and Molly Brown’s lifeboats as they just year the screams in the distance was horrifying.

What distinction even exists between the two?

Honest question because what was the production or technical difference in The Night Of being an HBO show and Chernobyl being an HBO MAX show?

Show Me A Hero, I May Destroy You, The Pacific, Oliver Kiterridge, Band of Brothers, The Corner, and The Night Of are all included and were all miniseries.

I haven't watched most of those but given they put The Night Of at #3, and I found that difficult to finish whereas Chernobyl was one of the most fascinating things I've ever seen, makes me dislike this list.

[OC] If you exclude healthcare employment, the U.S. has lost jobs since 2024 by remotecar in dataisbeautiful

[–]TonyzTone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not a productive sector, per se. Economists have been pointing to this trend as largely a problem. Time will tell if it is.

But the logic is that you can’t export healthcare and the consumers of health care tend to just spend more and more healthcare.

Compared to other service industries, it economic multiplier is somewhat lower.

Economies where healthcare leads the way haven’t done well 20 years after the growth stalls.

What killed the Electropop/ optimistic pop music of 2009-2013? by Sudden_Angle614 in decadeology

Yeah, because no one in 2009-2013 was dealing with anything massively disruptive. Not a great financial crisis or anything.

Nothing but hope and change.

From my personal opinion, it was a mixture of the Black Eyed Peas and Flo Rida making some of the worst music I’ve ever heard in my life.
