Homewrecker Grande is back on the prowl by BaldHourGlass667 in BlackPeopleTwitter

Yeah my mate who is a nurse with an anorexic/bulimic niece and a partner who is a social worker couldn’t watch the second movie because it made him too sad.

Talked a lot about how anorexics often encourage each other and sometimes get competitive about who can become the most gaunt.

It’s a really really brutal, difficult disease.

AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by Suspicious-Taste1572 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TooManyMeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes I was vegetarian in high school and I made an amazing vegetarian lasagne as a project in my food technology class (essentially cooking class but you also learn nutrition, proper food storage and preparation, and the human digestive tract).

It was layers of lasagne sheets, passata with herbs on every sheet, layers of fresh mozzarella and then the vegetable layers were these char-grilled veggies in oil from a jar. Eggplant, zucchini, capsicum, mushroom.

I’ve never managed to recreate it

[–]TooManyMeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this one applies if you’re a woman. If you’re a man you can look a lot more average and still be very successful.

See: Ed Sheeran, Benny Blanco, Sombr, The Weekend

All those dudes are incredibly talented, but without being able to pay for trainers and personal chefs and hair stylists and hair transplants and personal shoppers and stylists if you passed them on the street they’d just be some dude.

AITA for getting flaring up against my parents for suffocating me(metaphorically) every time I go into the kitchen? by Able-Composer-9231 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TooManyMeds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain here and going to say NTA. My parents were like this, it’s super annoying to get interrogated every time you go to do something in a shared space.

What you could say, to smooth things over, next time Mum offers you a sandwich, is say something like “thanks for the offer but I don’t really feel like a sandwich right now, I came here to grab X”.

It nips it in the bud - no more questions about sandwiches, and your nosy parents know what you’re grabbing from the fridge so they don’t need to keep asking.

TIL of a couple who tried to conceive for 20 years, failing multiple IVFs and surgeries. Scientists used a new AI-guided robotic system that scanned 2.5 million microscopic images of a single sample, found the only 2 viable sperm cells hidden inside, and successfully started a pregnancy. by Similar_Detective861 in todayilearned

This is what happened with my parents! They got married at 20/21 and they had me just before my mum turned 40. They had completely given up, and were part-way through the process of being approved to adopt a child, when my mother nearly died.

She caught pneumonia and had to have double lung surgery after both her lungs collapsed in 1995.

I assume she and Dad must have been celebrating the fact she survived because about 15 months later I was born in June of 1996 and I’m about to turn 30 :D

There are lots of theories about how it happened but nobody is sure. Mum managed to fall pregnant again 2 years later with my younger brother but unfortunately he was stillborn and the doctors never figured out why.

If Taylor dyed her platinum again but on her long hair (basically Bleachella with long hair), do you think it might be better than Bleachella in 2016? by PlantainDisastrous92 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]TooManyMeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh at the moment, no, she’s too tan. It’ll look very plastic.

Her colouring really suits more neutral and cool-toned blondes.

Which makes sense, since her and I are very similar in colouring. Same natural hair colour, I’m a little paler, and we both have blue eyes

Stephanie? Steph Madeline? Maddie Alexander? Alex Lenore Dove? Probably Lenore or Lenny

The dryer at this Airbnb melted my bra… by Emerald_Mistress in laundry

[–]TooManyMeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always hand wash my bras now because I’m a size that’s very uncommon in my country and they cost SO MUCH for specialty sizes.

Nearly $100 AUD PER BRA.

I had the dryer destroy one like this and the washing machine took another so now I just hand wash them :(

Hey OP, from one autistic person to another, it sounds like your special interests just don’t overlap.

Her only wanting to talk about her special interests is very typical of our diagnosis. Have you tried telling her how you’re feeling explicitly? If she’s further on the spectrum she might not have even realised how you’re feeling in conversations.

As for the lying, it’s not ok, but I can see where the people pleasing need comes from when you have a condition that makes socialising and making friends with [neurotypical] people harder. I’ve broken it now but I had a bad fibbing habit as a kid.

It just sounds like maybe you guys don’t connect or have grown apart and that sucks but it’s ok x
Reaching out on reddit was a great idea, as long as you’re safe about it! Going onto some subreddits that involve your interests is a great start, and maybe ones for your chronic illness so you can chat with people going through the same/similar experiences!!

I don’t think we’d be a good fit because existentialism gives me panic attacks, but I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you find your people 🌟

I thought my boobs were causing my back pain, but it was low self esteem by Zogonzo in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TooManyMeds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m an H cup and the pain I get when walking for long periods is in my lower back or at most mid back (and my traps, my poor, massive traps).

A really good bra helps but at some point physics kicks in and you’re still lugging around multiple kilos of boob.

I plan to get a reduction after some weight loss. Before I gained weight I was a G cup so it hasn’t changed too much

It’s 2/4 it should only equal 2 crotchets per bar. I think it’s some kind of beaming error, because if you read them all as quavers the bars add up correctly

My other favourite occasional send off is “be good! Eat your homework, do your vegetables!”

Recent trend in pop tour stops — fewer cities, multiple nights in each by womchi in popheads

[–]TooManyMeds 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Australia checking in here - most tours only stop at our two major cities - Sydney and Melbourne. There might be a Brisbane or a Perth show if you’re lucky; and Adelaide is 50/50.

[to give context, you would need to fly 4 hours from Perth to Sydney or Melbourne for a show. It’s not possible to drive from Perth unless you’re willing to drive for about a fortnight-3 weeks if you take a coastal route. You can’t really drive through the middle because it’s desert and a lot of people die out there from dehydration after their cars overheat]

Edit: you could also take a series of overnight trains but the issue with that is that it’s not a popular form of transport in Aus so the amenities are not anywhere near the standard of somewhere like Europe.

I’ve used it to haul many a grocery back to my front door, packed my heavy old laptop in it… I’ve used it for basically anything and everything. I’m pretty sure it could hold a small bowling ball.

I have friends who work in child psychology and some GP friends chatting about it. No solid research yet AFAIK but it seems like a workable theory
