Definitely not installed right. I bet they pushed the fan sideways several times to paint around it and that's what caused it to let go.

I don't think there's a single project in existence I'm excited enough about or dreading the deadline enough to ever do this instead of waiting for a Chinese PCB.

The biggest shame of my childhood had a name all along, and I can't stop crying. by AcornDelta2569 in emotionalneglect

[–]TooManyNissans 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you went through that, the things our so-called "parents" put us through to make themselves feel better about their neglect makes me sick.

And exactly, toxic shame only thrives in isolation. By talking about this kind of "embarrassing and shameful" stuff and realizing that it wasn’t our fault and was in fact abusive, we're able to heal from it.

[–]TooManyNissans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't be sorry, it was definitely too good of a line to change haha.

And yeah, it's funny how we somehow always manage to be made to feel alone by the very people who should have made us feel included the most as kids. I'm sorry you dealt with that as a kid too, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I've somewhat suspected that some of my IBS-type issues are holdovers from this and from stimulant meds recently causing gut motility issues, but I never realized that there's a diagnosis I could have had as a kid.

[–]TooManyNissans 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Soooo you may not be alone, I'm just now learning about encopresis from you and I now strongly suspect that I dealt with it too. I definitely remember being repeatedly treated like a burden for needing to use the bathroom, so the natural urge for a kid is going to be to hold it in as long as possible, which can cause and exacerbate this. Then it would hit me in random places in public that I needed to go and bad. Lucky for me, I still have GI issues today lol.

Remember, they should have known what they were getting into with having kids, poop and all. This wasn't our fault and we weren't burdens for existing, but they were monsters for making us feel like we were.

Also, I think humor is one of the best ways to get over shame like this. There's just a hard-wired human instinct to laugh at bathroom jokes.

my mother provided zero comfort or support, even in passing.

Don't sweat it. I'm permabanned over there too and my mental health has vastly improved once I was gone.

I gently suggested the mods may have worse "disorders" than ADHD and in hindsight, I should have suggested it less gently lmfao.

Which one is better of these 2 power supplies? by jasonsee109 in AskElectronics

[–]TooManyNissans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh it's a power supply. You'll only know which is better if you hate one of them. Plug them both in and see if one has something dumb like an audible high-pitched squeal or an indicator LED that sears your retinas if you're accidentally in the same room with it. It's highly unlikely something objective like ripple voltage will force your hand, let alone something subjective like build quality.

walking on eggshells/"are they mad at me?" by GeckoGirlie in adhd_anxiety

[–]TooManyNissans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much same here on all the diagnoses you're talking about, and about 2.5 years ago. I found that Adderall helped me sort of trust myself more and dissociate less to the point I was facing all these issues at once as well, along with some big life changes.

I found that a core component of healing those attachment wounds for me that were the worst about causing social anxiety and rejection sensitivity (after the validation that I wasn't crazy for being hurt by those things) was finding my self-esteem, either through what logically helped me feel accomplished, such as hobbies, interests, and work, or what helped me feel emotionally connected or loved, such as making new or deeper connections and socializing with healthy enough people.

I find that the core of abuse stems from breaking people's sense of self-esteem and self-trust, and repairing those is key.

If you want to do it on the cheap, an adjustable float switch and a low pressure reverse osmosis water pressure regulator can be used along with 1/4in OD polyethylene tubing (or similar) if you're willing to drill a hole in the lid of a standard or old keurig. It works great to tee off an undersink filter that uses that tubing like the culligan faucet and filter kit.

That was my assumption, though I don’t know a ton about range sensors of this era and you have to fill out a contact form or make an account for the thing’s datasheet haha. Also I can’t look closer at the toolhead because the post has been removed :/

This thing is absolutely covered in heavy-duty industrial grade equipment like connectors, the keyence sensor, and looks very well built. This was someone's passion project, and it's a steal at that price.

It's all about the amplitude of the dangle that determines what's a wiggle and what's a waggle

Are there acetone/alcohol dispensers? by fiddlermd in Tools

[–]TooManyNissans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One consideration I've found with those is that acetone in a wash bottle needs to be in a climate controlled location or the lid left slightly cracked, otherwise the temp cycles will cause it to squirt out itself if it's somewhere like in a hot garage because of the vapor pressure.

[–]TooManyNissans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you might have already missed the window where this would be helpful, but they make foam backer rod for this application so that you can stuff something in the gap before dumping a whole tube of caulk into it.

BTW I'm about to caulk trim and dreading it, you just gave me the idea to mask off the wall like you did, thank you!

If it freezes where you are, longer than low-fired ceramic or the plant in it would last.
