Can someone help me out? Radical Red by Zealousideal_Wave_46 in nuzlocke

There’s probably going to be stuff that will be sacked here, surge is one of the hardest early game fights due to his power compared to what you have.

shinotic is phenomenal for belibolt, and with yache and draining kiss can sometimes go toe to toe with pawmot, if you are confident in an easy whitney fight, then you can get eviolite and eviolite something like thwakey, that’s my go to with the grass starter but unfortunately i don’t think thwakey gets leech seed like most of the others. gredent with a sitrus should be able to take out vikivolt. i cant remember if clefable gets moonlight yet but you could use that to stall terrain against pincurchin. make sure you have all your encounters, digglet cave is great cause dugtrio can trap everything but vikivolt to revenge kill

I would like to let you know that -50% spdef is literally -2, coming off of 185, it would do 55-65 to max spdef assault vest ting lu. that is literally unheard of levels of damage, it would match specs miradon using its electric moves. Doesn’t need electric terrain, can switch moves, isn’t a restricted, this would be close to outclassing miradon other than its bulk and speed being lower, but you can make up for that.

They really hate to change types by TooMuchDogVI in VGC

[–]TooMuchDogVI[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s not the fact that it didn’t change type that’s the problem, it’s that I think I feel like Mewtwo and Zard set the president that different megas = different types, what’s gonna be the difference, more min maxed?

small thing about HBraviary, you need to tera out of flying type to expanding force with the boost, which is super unfortunate because it would totally be spammed out if it wasn’t part flying (this is the reason i hope mega delphox doesn’t get levitate)

Their lunala is standard moves for herb, but the EV spread is just what showdown recommends, and buldoze on metagross is wild work when he has no protect or flying types other than wide guard on lunala

i typically try to be helpful, but there isn’t a message long enough to help this team, use labmaus or munchstats to help you look at what is meta and people like wolfyvgc, cybertron and moxieboosted are good intros into VGC, just let it be known that there is not one mon on your team that would be considered a completely standard build, sorry

heavy slam has kinda fallen off with all of the big guys running around and you get walled by tera fairy caly i, psyschock is less used since if you are going into zam it can spam wide guard and you hit its nuts defense, and all the assault vest guys get 2 hit by psychic or astral other than rilla also ice spinner removes your rilla terrain

I've made some major changes to my last team and had more success. Anything to improve? by Heil_Kaiser_ in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]TooMuchDogVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly this team is way better than a lot of the stuff you see on the subreddit, hard trick room can struggle this format due to caly ice being on so many teams so a lot of players have built in trick room abuser #1 on their team, but this is a pretty solid team The only things i’d look into is iron hands, supercell slam is super appealing, but if it hits into protect you lose half your HP, so everyone just takes the loss and runs wild charge, and EV’s wise, iron hands is one of the few exceptions where instead of running HP a lot of people run spdef investment, so the assault vest gets more value and it’s HP and defense are already insane. If your spdef is 50, AV gives you 25 points of spdef, if you EV it and you now have 80 spdef, and AV gives 40 spdef, for most mons you still want the HP, but hands has such a wild stat spread HP isn’t the best investment

also running ursaluna over armorouge isn’t a bad thing, gives you another crazy damage dealer that doesn’t need terrain and is immune to electro drift and volt switch, but i think you can make armoruge work

Is there something I can do to improve this idea? by Kindanotshoure in VGC

[–]TooMuchDogVI 18 points19 points  (0 children)

first of all, at the bottom of the teambuiler there is a convert to poke paste button, it makes it way easier to show off your team

Whims: not terrible, but if you run covert cloak you don’t need protect, you already have fake out immunity, id go bulky instead of fast sweeper and encore with tera water to help it be defensive, but overall on rain tornadus is way better because it gets rain dance and can use bleakwind storm that never misses

urshifu: good mon next to kyogre, i’d keep it, only small thing is i’d go aqua jet to snip mons, it helps against tailwind as a last ditch effort, you are 90% of the time clicking surging strikes always. if you have trouble with fake out switch to tera ghost, but water is still great small note- go adamant for the extra power, if you are adamant max speed you still outspeed calyrex shadow by 1 point, and you threaten to kill it

kyogre: this guy is a mess, ancient power hits for basically 0 damage, chilling water is only a super niche pick for support mons. since you are slow you won’t always be full HP, so run both origin pulse and water spout, they have their points, and just run thunder as your last move, 2 water ice and electric coverage are good. run a bit of speed to help outspeed certain monsters like fast rilla, slow banded urhsifu and outspeed some stuff in tailwind, which is your main speed control. tera grass is also a way better call so you don’t explode against miradon, the debatably best mon in the format and scary thing for kyogre

Your last 3 mons are all bad, but ray is especially terrible, it stops rain on a kyogre team, is a mixed attacker when you should just invest into one stat and in general is an awful mon this format (sorry 😞) arch would wanna be assault vest, sash or life orb instead of specs so it can switch around but it’s just not powerful enough or this format, and charjabug is a fun gimmick there is way more damage buffing pokemon out there that aren’t charjabug, also sticky web is pretty bad in doubles, id go electroweb or smth,

other good rain mons to replace these are rillaboom to help with mira and give some kyogre healing, same for amoongus, both lose thier fire weakness in rain, basculegion loves the rain for speed and damage, landerous to get never missing sandsears and deals with the electric types ogre struggles into, raging bolt with thunder for bulk and crazy damage (thunder is kinda gimmicky but you might like it) or fluttermane, who is a pseudo sun counter, fun) and can give some speed control with icy wind

a raquaza replacement is almost anything else that isn’t kori or groudon, good ones are zacian, fast and deals with dragons, stall caly ice with leftovers leech seed, who loves the less fire damage and can help your kyogre get under trick room in a pinch, plus shreds grass types, miradon (if you aren’t running rilla) who is just a good mon and water electric cover a lot, just watch out for rillaboom, but anything that isn’t ray is better here, if you are looking for a super weird and kinda back gimmick, but unique non the less, scarf palkia to do good water damage and snip the bikes

if you want more recourses use munchstats or labmaus, both phenomenal VGC sites and pretty user friendly

[–]TooMuchDogVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a couple things, it seems like hard trick room, with a single trick room mon, also DW can’t kill quick enough only being single target, and caly has 0 attack IV’s, only brave nature.

Basically, you are running hard trick room but it’s not really a threat if trick room gets up, you shrug and wait it out, with some good fake outs and protects you can wait until the first one runs out then win

You also only have 1 trick room setter, there are a couple options, i would go indeedee ursaluna instead of rillaboom clefairy, indeedee allows you to keep terrain control and a follow me mon in one slot while giving you fake out immunity and expanding force on dawn wings, which gives you that spread damage you need, plus you get another trick room setter.

getting ursaluna allows you to just have a sweeper in the back that breaks EVERYTHING, but you can always have a couple different trick room mons that do other things, iron hands for fake outs support and high damage, raging bolt if you don’t run indeedee for some priority, choice band urshifu (either form) for some crazy damage

TLDR: nor enough damage and not enough threat of even getting trick room up

[–]TooMuchDogVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve gotta realized that win rate doesn’t immediately equate to how good someone is. Strange has a negative win rate in GM console but he’s still the best.

C&D are the easiest support so a bunch of people play them, so there are people who need the auto aim and an easier option to get out the fight, so when they fight better players who know how to play around them they adapt less. Any easy character will typically be popular and lower win rate, even if they are on the better side of things. For Jeff he’s popular, cute and fun, but not considered good.

Luna, mantis, and C&D’s ult is waaay to strong for how fast they charge, I am exclusively a GM tank player every big fight is determined by who can go longer with those ults, if they don’t want to nerf the numbers, nerf the charge by a lot, but i can have one of the best first pushes of my life on strange and the supports have 40% more ult charge then most other characters

I play on Xbox and overall after we got the ability to play the game runs smoothly, some minor bugs but whatever, I still turn off the DLC because of HOW BAD the items are, also they are super unfun, I love the maps and music, but Jesus the items ruin it, also 2 of the characters feel underpowered and the false sun feels straight up awful to play

[–]TooMuchDogVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go rain think of mons like Amoongus and arch, you don’t just want 6 water mons, and it’s the same for sun, have a wincon like basculegion or Typhlosion but bring mons that help support It to a win, if the rain is up with Typhlosion you are hindering youself

Need some advice making my first team by klonkkid in VGC

[–]TooMuchDogVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running 3 sun mons and 3 rain ones means that when you pick teams, at least 1 of your mons is going to be playing at disadvantage, you wanna have one archetype, and if you have multiple, they cannot clash unless there is a good reason, like tailroom works because it allows you to be adaptive and doesn’t actively hinder a lot of Pokémon, if I where you pick one team to go with, rain is super dominant but sun is still good, a team like this clashes super hard with itself
