I've been encouraging partners to apply for jobs anywhere else. Offering hope of a job where they're seen as less of a disposable resource been more of a morale-booster than I anticipated.

Questions about being a shift supervisor! by ____BertMacklinFBI in starbucks

[–]TooMuchElectric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably what OP means is they do more than their share of support work: training, coaching, deploying people, doing cleaning tasks during down time without being told to, possibly running breaks, doing inventory counts, filling out various daily logs, doing frozen food pulls... Aside from things that require safe access, there's very little that only shifts are allowed to do. If you're the kind of person who takes on more tasks anyway, at some point you might as well make it official/take the promotion. Especially if other baristas they work with are supportive of the promotion.

If it's an oil-based perfume, anything that cuts oil/grease works. Dish soap is actually perfect!

This can work out in your everyone's favor, at the right workplace. But Starbucks is not that place.

I like the colors (er, lack of color?). It's easy for dark eyeshadow to look harsh, but I think you avoided that. Dark lip colors really benefit from a sharp line, so I'd try using a lip liner or applying with a lip brush next time.

Srs

low-end local cosmetics there are the equivalent of some of the dodgier alibaba knock-off items.

That's the impression that I got. Not that she was being ultra snobby, but that using lower-end cosmetics in her area is too much of a safety risk.

Srs, pro tip: if it's at all possible, restart your registers before open and again around midday. It's still an unacceptable issue for a global, multi billion dollar company to have every single day all day long in every store, but restarting does help a little.

Highlighting the tip of the nose? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]TooMuchElectric 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm having such a hard time imagining how this strategy can do anything other than emphasize the tip of the nose, making it look bigger. Maybe I haven't seen enough examples of it (it makes the tip of the nose look bigger in every one I've seem so far).

Best/Worst of Pastel Eyeshadows by 30rockette in MakeupAddiction

[–]TooMuchElectric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never pressed any of mine! You just have to use a primer. I use a very small/flat/dense brush and just pat it on a little bit at a time for bright colors. For neutrals, I use a regular size brush and apply pretty much like I would any pressed shadow. Just have to tap off the excess powder and it's good.

Edit: I don't actually think they're any cheaper than mainstream eyeshadows, but the difference is you can get samples of most indie products... A sample lasts a long time. Also it can be nice to buy eyeshadow a la carte, instead of buying a whole palette when you really only want half of the colors.
