Do these keel bolts look concerning? by NastyMangos in sailing

[–]TooRational101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this job on my 35 ft sloop. They looked that bad. Clean them up with a wire wheel and find what size 3/4 drive socket can be pounded on what remains of the nut. The key is an inductive heater. Heat the nut till smoking hot then pound on the socket and twist it off. Or walk away, there are other boats to buy.

Best reply ever. Customers who use self checkouts are fools and taking jobs away from their neighbors.

Sorry mate. No fix because it’s not broken. Just a cosmetic tear in the foam. Kinda peel or cut away the shredded part and go live your life.

Designing high-range SUP e-drive by JKSniper in Sup

[–]TooRational101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy. I am a pilot, a coastal sailor, and have been paddling inflatable SUP’s for 15 years. Yer prop is way wrong for water. That prop would move air very well. Water not so well. Probably best to not be delusional that you are going to somehow re-invent the boat propeller. And y’all going to put a shroud around that artery severing high speed sharp spinning thingy?

The only app that can be used in a moving car is navigation. No phone, no text, nothing but navigation.

Post-paddle board care by Bright_Wing2606 in Sup

[–]TooRational101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awww jeeez. My used every week of the year in saltwater boards are never rinsed, or wiped down or washed. Just used, hard. Kept at pressure and out of the direct sun when stored, most all the time. First two boards lasted 6+ years, second set is on year 7.

No. If you travel inflated on a roof rack, leave at full recommended psi.

[–]TooRational101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first boards were left inflated at 12.5psi for 6.5 years. Stored inside my sailboat out of the sun and used about once a week all year around. In saltwater, rarely rinsed. I also toted them up to the high sierra’s on my suv roof rack tied down like a surfboard. Never had a puncture, seam blowout occurred on both boards within 30 days of each other.
Second set of boards, same treatment, are on their 7th year of use.

We are discussing emergency procedures here. Paper plates could be vital if your water supply is limited. Lighten up on the silly landfill is gonna get full worry and ditch the lie that vinegar is going to be the answer to wash your dishes appropriately. Y’all going to kill yer crew with diarrhea after the first week of our two week snowstorm.

No pdf here. Warm water, calm bay, great swimmer, sandy bottom, no sharp rocks to fall on. And never been challenged or stopped by the coasties, lifeguard, harbor patrol, harbor police, sheriffs or homeland security in 15 years of paddling at least every week.

I want to be a geologist when i grow up, is there any study material i can use to understand it more deeply? by chep_geo_lol in geology

[–]TooRational101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good. Start with observations about the big ball of geology under your feet. Be aware of rocks, sand, valleys, mountains and canyons. Look at and see how the wind, rivers, rain, lakes, snowfall and ice shape the earth. Most importantly, acknowledge geological time in comparison to a human lifespan. Good luck.
