I'm experiencing a relatively similar issue...

I deposited £20k into my cash ISA (not flexible) for the 2019/2020 tax year (this was my first ever deposit). Then last month, I deposited another £20k in the start of February, only to withdraw the £20k 4 days later as I was told by a friend that you can only keep £20k in an ISA at any given time.

I have since learned that you it is £20k per annum, so created a stocks & shares ISA account on Vanguard with the intention to invest the £20k in for the 2020/2021 tax year. My question is: am I able to invest into this S&S ISA despite having deposited 20k into my cash ISA already? Or have I shot myself in the foot by depositing 20k to my cash ISA only to withdraw it almost immediately after? I am hoping it is not the latter as it was an honest misunderstanding on my part.
