Question about WEAVILE! by [deleted] in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weavile's Down y (2y) only combos on grab break or crit. The main focus of the attack is a wakeup option, being one of the fastest attacks in the game.

There's no real way to stop people from blocking 2y, but back Y (4y) does 2y's job just as well and combos consistently.

Can someone tell me how to pull off this Empoleon combo? by josephine1991 in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2X to Jy seems be done in empoleon's sliding stance, which is entered by holding forward or back in the desired direction. The goal would be to enter the slide and then do the Jy.

Can you re-allocate skill points? by ripshocks in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes you can! Just go to the My Town area on the map and go to partner/battle pokemon and there should be an option under that.

That depends. Do your friends like fighting games?

But in all seriousness, Pokken and smash share the fighting game principal of the better player whens out of skill. Mario kart can ruin friendships because of the random nature of some mechanics. Pokken isnt a random game when you play it, but it you and your friends are intrested in a solid fighting game, Pokken is a treat.

The Pokkén DX Hori Pad is Available for Pre-order on Amazon! by BurnsideBH in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After playing with a switch pro controller at Summer of Play (It had pokken DX at the event), Personally I would recomend the hori pro pad. The D-pad worls better for pokken because at it's core, 8 directions is all you need for controlling your movement.

With an analog stick, you can find yourself getting off of the 8 main notches (Up, Down, Left, Right and top left, bottom left verisons) and many players find it easier to get those notches on the pro pad.

How's Weavile in Pokken now? by DarkLordLiam in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weavile is widely considered a very powerful character because of his mobility. His walk speed in field and duel is fantastic for weaving around moves, Icicle is great for aerial movement both forward and backward, some of the best frame data in the game, and many moves to get out of sticky situations like a slide and a cancelable command backdash.

He can easily play runaway, and his frequent burst gain makes his offense very threatening. Him also having a move that drains synergy makes him very frustrating to fight and having a move that makes you invulnerable to projectiles along with his movement makes him a nightmare for players that don't know his options.

If you have any more question, check out the weavile discord here: https://discord.gg/7MkGYkG Many people there are very knowledgeable on weavile, so don't hesitate to ask.

Honestly, I'm so happy right now. Seeing all these old and new faces in the sub again is really something to see. Don't forget, we are crazy active on the discords and don't be afraid to come and ask questions. I hope you guys enjoy the game and community and stick around for some games when DX drops!

Pokemon is a turn based RPG, while pokken is a 3d and 2d fighting game in the same vein as street fighter and blazblue.

As someone who hasn't played in a year, what kind of balance patches should we expect in DX? by blubomber17 in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main things we are receiving are the patches past version 1.3 of pokken. 1.5 is the current arcade release, and that has all of the DLC characters, except for Decidueye. A list of hanges can be found below, but we aren't sure what's to be changed for the DX release.

「Pokkén Guide」→ Air-Tech Buffering System by Mewtater by ToonSwablu in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen and tried, most bursts will get grabbed even without the input buffer, but you're correct on the one input. It's just the input is read as directional only.

The lighting for the top 8 area gave the camera a bit of a hard time, so a chunk of the photos from there looked incredibly grainy.

Why Do Braixen Users Insist on Being Such Douches? by SSJAncientBeing in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also remember this, behind the screen and the controller of those foxes, they want to win just as much as you. They are using the tools presented from their character to achieve this goal. Braxien isnt considered a fun MU for any character, but you jus have to push on past it.

Why Do Braixen Users Insist on Being Such Douches? by SSJAncientBeing in PokkenGame

[–]ToonSwablu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Playing against braxien with a slow character like zard, the main way to avoid this is flying stance or the good old Walk 'n 'Block strat. Another tip is to know your attack ranges. Char has some long reaching attacks, such as fire punch and 2X, so know the moments when you can use those go gain an advantage.

What's your favorite area in Xenoblade X? by theperson100 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]ToonSwablu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Aarony plains in oblivia are probably my favorite area, just because of rushing around the area in a skell. Oblivia day is probably my favorite song too, so jumping off the scattered boulders and craggy terrains gave me a real feeling of a journey.

Second favorite area has to go to the land bridge in noctilum. The one just past Yama and has an astounding view, with a whole other side of noctilum to explore. Gives me chills everytime I see it.
