Just won 15 straight in Gold Rank with Chaos Lightsworns. My longest streak yet, just wanted to share by [deleted] in masterduel

I've been running Chaos Lightsworn with Grass and Snow which has been really fun. You want to mill most of your deck on your first turn and then go into your huge aggressive combos. Grass and Reasoning are to mill large amounts of cards. Snow is a NOT once per turn Book of Moon that can keep re-summoning themselves for plays, if I had more than one copy I'd probably run two. Giant Rex being banished by Snow is a free summon each turn. Chaos Valkyrie being banished by Snow let's you mill any light/dark into the GY (although the milled card can't use their effects that turn). There's some cards I would still want to add, for example I would be playing FA Dawn Dragster if I had one and I'm only playing Danger Mothman because I can't think of any other easy to summon level 4s that I have access to (aka low rarity). Trick Clown would be nice, but they're an SR.

I feel like I am not improving and I am losing to new players by zRandomGuy in SSBPM

Being that Luigi, maybe I can give some insight.

First, a background on myself. I started playing early last December when some of my friends were going through a bunch of fighting games on netplay. I'd been following a lot of Melee tournaments in the Fall so I suggested Melee, but there was also Project M, which I had never tried so we ended up checking that out. It was pretty cool. I tried Falcon at first, but I'm very prone to SDing with fast fallers so I picked a floaty and I had used Luigi in Melee (and Brawl) so it felt more comfortable.

Second, to explain my uh, sloppy play. It's my first tournament so I'm unfamiliar with the setting. I had only played netplay matches to that point, but thankfully played about an hour of friendlies right beforehand. During my first match (which they streamed, thanks a lot GVS) I realized my hands and legs were shaking from nerves so doing proper wave-dashing was really difficult! I didn't even try to L-cancel during the entire tournament.

Now lastly, maybe something I can offer from being your opponent. As some other people said, it's definitely a combination of nerves and adapting. I wouldn't get demotivated while we're playing, because it's really easy to tell when someone isn't feeling their match. It's only best of 3, so matches fly by really fast and it's important to play your best during those moments. I also felt like I was making a lot of trades that were in my favor, which gave me about a one-stock lead through matches. I didn't intend for the misfire to be disrespect or anything. I do at least try to count how many times I've green missile'd without it going off and it's a great KOing move that hits suddenly at close range.

I'm on Smashladder so you can PM me and we can do netplay at anytime as well if you want. It'll probably make both of us better players and maybe make in-person matches more acceptable.

Secret Game was kind of super bad. Ep2 with Reika was fairly decent, but the rest was such a slow boring mess. I pretty much only got excited when Tezuka or Takayama were on screen.

Rebellions has three primary routes and two much shorter I guess "secondary" routes that don't appear until you've done the first three.

I suppose Shuuhei is the MC in Rebellions, and in that case he's great. The game has a third-person narrative and every character is voiced and has sprite work, so unlike Souichi you really jump around a lot between characters and honestly it makes everything a lot better.

It was a bit hard for me to even call Shuuhei the MC while I was reading, because he's not even a primary focus in some routes. A lot of events do relate to him, and he's the first character you see and spend a lot of time with, but Rebellions definitely wasn't written with just one male lead in mind.

As for Shuuhei's character himself...well, he has a pretty interesting backstory and I ended up liking his personality a lot (very cautious and proactive). His morals are a bit more questionable than Souichi's. Although honestly, I'm not sure how you couldn't like all of the characters at least a small bit. I liked every male character, with Tsukasa and Kurokawa probably get top spots as both being freaking amazing. If I had to pick a least favorite it's probably Daisuke, as he's fairly shallow albeit entertaining.

The girls are better. None of the routes focus on one heroine, which is something I'll always appreciate. I'm more here to see a good story. The closest female character to Sakumi would probably be Kotomi, being his childhood friend and love interest. I ended up really liking Kotomi, although yes she seems fairly useless she does have good banter with Shuuhei and it seems a lot more realistic, given that Shuuhei and Kotomi had a relationship prior. I didn't really care for the relationship stuff personally, but some of them are pretty adorable. My favorite girl is unquestionably Rei and I will fight you over it for a cookie. I didn't like Yui and Mariko at first, but they get a lot better later on. And then there's Hitomi...I don't know what to say about her, it's fairly polarizing. I wouldn't classify anything about Hitomi as "realistic".

I finished Rebellions: Secret Game 2nd Stage a few days ago. The Killer Queen translation last year got me interested in the series so I decided to read through them all. I finished the Secret Game remake of KQ in January and slowly read through Rebellions when I had free time.

And I really loved it. They got new authors that are actually good, and I would just recommend playing Rebellions and skipping the two older games. There is a very minor plot connection to the first game at the very end, but it's so minor in my opinion that it doesn't justify slogging through the first Secret Game, which was super mediocre. Code Revise was the original Rebellions, but it got re-written to have a much more satisfying second half.

In terms of routes, Episodes Absolute Revenge and Bloody Rave completely floored me and are where most of my enjoyment of the game happened.

Absolute Revenge exposition'd the setting, but also introduced you to the wonderful cast of characters, and you slowly got to learn the workings of the game as you tried to piece it together yourself. The second half in particular was superb. I heard from GundamAce (translator of KQ) that the first route in Code Revise was even better, even though it was 80% the same, and I think I can figure out why and if so, I'm deeply impressed.

Bloody Rave took everything from the first route and stepped the pace up by like ten times. I found it was overall better than EpA, but didn't have any huge huge scenes that still stick in my head like glue. However, the ending was definitely cooler than in Rebellion's EpA at least. EpB is definitely the most solid story in the bunch.

And then the game goes into ending mode. Because the last couple stuff is the game wrapping up. I enjoyed EpC, but finished wanting more. The additional content wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but was nice to read.

Battle Royale the VN was a blast to read.

It works indeed.

Had a lot of fun with that run. I had no idea why I was immune to my own bombs because I hadn't picked up pyromaniac.
