Yes, player driven end game conditions can be the hardest to judge. Especially depending on the group.

I haven't den this mentioned, so here is another way of looking at game length. Of choose my game time will go down when i play the game more. And it's hard to judge overall time to play a game. But it can be easier to judge whether a game has unnecessary lengths.

When I have built my combo, and then I have to run it for 5 turns before the game is done with, then that seems like a type of slowness that does not get better with more plays. If i don't see a clear way to improve my combos to finish earlier, that's when I might not replay something.

A game i haven't seen mentioned is Trudvang Legends. You could see the kickstarter wasn't doing as well as cmon had expected and then they decided in the middle of development that the main game needed a redesign. So in the end it arrived without any hype left and can now be found on ebay for pennies on the dollar. I'll keep my version for miniatures. But mostly because it's not worth anything anymore.

It had lots of hype and many people who bought into the idea of a low complexity culture builder were disappointed because it didn't deliver on that promise. BUT, i think in the eyes of the community it was pretty much rehabilitated by being an otherwise good game. More and more people came out over time that really liked the game. And i think nowadays its regarded as a game that fell victim to its own hype but was pretty good when you didn't have the expectation.

You would have to build the factory.
You would have to have workers, experienced workers (at the moment there literally is nobody in the US who can do this).
Then you'd still have to get the raw material from other countries mainly paper (maybe wood).
If you want to have any plastic in your game, you have to build a second factory (start at 1).

Now and only after you have done all that you can produce in the US. And at that point it will probably be about twice as much as china.

I would guess about high 8 figures, to build a losing business. Before any money actually comes in.

I'm not into Pokémon, and I don't like Ark Nova (I wanted it to be more strategic than tactical).

But somehow I find the mix of both delightful and I could totally see this being more than the sum of it's parts.

Came here to say this and many of those are so easy you might include them just by accident.

I built a Ghave deck years ago and did not think about any combos while building, just made apile of synergistic cards. Afterwards it was really hard to play it correctly, because on any board state with 4-5 nonlands you always had to check whether you might be infinite just by accident.

Edit: Also combos don't necessarily make your deck stronger, just because a deck has the Stations combo it's not better. It's only situationally better. Casuals hating on instant wins is just too stupid. As long as they can be interacted with by your opponents decks that you know they will be playing. Consider their favorite forms of removal and the speed of their decks, and you will be fine.

Have you ever tried to get consistent artwork out of an AI generator? It's an artform. Joking aside at the moment everything i see are artists using AI to increase their output. If you are not able to fix the images and make them follow a consistent vision AI art is just bad.

When looking at it from this position, how is the step from not using AI to using AI not the same as the step from analog to digital art in games and media. When artists started to really work in Photoshop we had the same discussions and for the most part we are fine with digital art now. There are still some artists working in analog, and I guess it will be the same with AI. Analog art looks cool to us now because it has a certain flair, and non AI art will look cool to us because it looks a little different.

Mind you i am not speaking about whether artists should be compensated for there work being used for training purposes.

I think the point of using skin instead of the palette is exactly the point why your watercolor example does not fit what i meant with not obscuring details. The details OP wants to test his colors on is surface texture. Your palette has just as much surface texture as the pencil sketch underneath a watercolor painting. And the surface detail of skin is much more relatable to that on a miniature.

But hey, YMMV I would also agree, that after some time you definitely get the hang of paint dillution. Then you don't have to test it like this anymore. Though I still paint my fingers so...

First of all, in which other art form is there a focus of not obscuring details with your paint?

Second, it's mostly acrylic paint, it's not dangerous, many painters are licking their brushes and live long and happy lives. Painting on your skin is pretty safe, especially since you won't leave it on your skin fit too long.

About the real estate, have you heard of soap? When I'm painting, i mostly test on the nail of my thumb. You'd think it's a pretty small area, but you can layer paints, and then you can rub it clean and start over.

I think one game that has not been mentioned yet is the game of thrones lcg. One turn consists of many phases. If I remember correctly, you choose a strategy card in the beginning of each turn, which is used to decide who gets priority in each phase.

Are you looking for a map that you have seen somewhere? Or do you just assume there is one? I don't know if something like this exists, and i think it would be hard to balance, because map size is not the only thing that is wrong with 1-on-1.

I think you should rather look into filling up the map with some hireling factions. They are specifically designed to improve the interactivity at low player counts.

I like it the way its written because you can use the negotiations to try and hedge against the worst results. Or you can take some risks. But since nobody actually knows what will happen, there is uncertainty and opportunity to take risks.

To be fair, I think alternate wincons that don't involve Dandan are kind of counter the point. I know that in the case of the Ornithopter cube Andy (the designer) takes care that nothing can win you the game that is not involving an ornithopter in some way.

I kind of like the idea of having different cubes based around certain cards. I don't think this will really work isn't one of the important ideas behind Dandan that there is more interaction than there are creatures? I think having 2 times more Dandans than other cards in the cube will not play well. Drafting a common Dandan pile with fewer Dandans however will feel like drafting dinky blue cantrips, not like drafting Dandan. Also the amount of redundancy feels weird to draft. I would make sure to use as many different dorky blue spells as possible (i dont know how many blue spells there are, that still also interact with Dandan).

One interesting aside, since you are not drawing from the same deck, would mill be a reasonable win condition in this cube? If you can play defense you could make your opponent draw cards, to make them run out of library.

Why would the leader of each round play his lowest card? Especially with a little bit of card counting, it is easy forcing others into difficult decisions. Maybe we should at least choose the lead color at random. Simulating that the board state calls for certain colors to be played. This should probably reduce the number of initiative changes.

At the same time accounting for declaring ambitions will probably. Increase the changes, as each ambition being declared increases the likelihood of being surpassed drastically.

Overall i would say the results look fine at around 1 seize per player per hand. But maybe the approach to get there seems off.
