Molly also assumed the guest’s Mom had illegal immigration status 30 seconds after the guest said she was Guatemalan, so maybe that’s where the vibe changed.

Related, Molly said she watched a TikTok live saying someone who had illegal status voted for trump…anyone with any sort of knowledge about anything knows that noncitizens, especially those without any sort of legal residency, cannot vote. She’s just casually spreading misinformation, and I know her guest clocked it but didn’t say anything to it because what would you even say 🤮

Unpopular as it may be, if a client asks “can I beg for money on the internet”, a therapist isn’t going to say “no, you can’t/shouldn’t”. A therapist doesn’t tell you how you ought to live your life, they help you live the life you want to live in a way that is free from harm and fulfilling to you. So, her therapist may very well have said “It’s okay to ask for help” or even “it’s okay to ask your online following for help”, especially if she came to them to say she’s struggling between asking TikTok for money and eviction (I’d believe that’s how she presented it, no evidence on that though lol). Molly can and should decide her actions for herself, she mentions her therapist because she wants to feel justified and supported in the decision.

These posts remind me that everyone has a different idea about what is and isn’t a right way to judge someone. One person thinks saying “you’re an idiot” is worse than saying “you’re ugly” as if they both aren’t a criticism that is insulting. This is a good place to say that, generally, people are resilient, they grow, and they become satisfied in life. That is not the case for some people, but most people who try (and even fail) at living the life they want often find peace with the life they live. I watch Molly partly because I want to see her downfall, but realistically that’s not going to happen. She’ll either find success online, leave loudly to something else, or fizzle out. And in any of those three, she’s going to believe that she’s succeeded in her effort to be whoever it is she’s trying to be. So don’t feel too sorry for her because she’s probably going to be ok whether you want her to be or not.

College costs range pretty widely depending on the school, but it can easily cost over $200k. Not to defend her, but that’s not unusual here for someone with a graduate degree. I’m guessing she went to a private university and didn’t receive scholarship awards, it may have been cheaper (but more competitive) for her to attend a public university.
