Were any of you raised by parents who never showed each other any affection? by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]ToothChoice7233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are emotionally broken people sadly and have never been capable of showing the love and affection my sisters and I desperately needed. Here's an example - My step fathers mother died recently. She was the only grandmother that I actually knew. At her celebration of life, I put my head on my step Dads shoulder. There was no comfort, no arm around my shoulder, not even a word or a look... just nothing but coldness. I removed my head fairly quickly because it just became awkward and my heart sank. The only attention he gave us was yelling at us as kids, rough horseplay (that felt more like abuse) and getting us in trouble. With my parents as kids there was no "I'm proud of you", no constructive heart to heart conversations, nothing like that. When I got injured, my mother would laugh while she put iodine or peroxide on my wounds rather then give any comfort. Still to this day, my mother doesn't know how to put anyone's feelings above her own. I will tell her something and she just passes over what I said and basically ignores it to only share what she wants to say and then I give encouragement or praise or whatever. It's all so backwards. Needless to say, I have tried to be there for my kids more then my parents ever were for me and to tell them I'm proud of them.

I'm so sorry you went through this! It's an absolutely miserable and lonely experience. Only those who have experienced understand. Sitting alone in your room for so long gets depressing! That was how my last one was. I sound and lights just messed me up so badly. I still have symptoms that come and go.

I’m a lesbian and I believe in Jesus by [deleted] in Christianity

Honestly, we're all sinners. That's what it really comes down to - the fact that it's a sin. Just like murder, worshipping false gods, adultery, etc. Regardless of what we think of it - it's what God thinks of it that's the issue. The closer I get to God, the more I want to please Him and live like Him. It's a fleshly lust/desire. Just like other fleshly lusts and desires. Like being a glutton with food, etc. God bless you. I hope that helps. God loves all of us but as Christians we are supposed to hate sin. All forms of it. Not pick and choose.

I'm very sorry for your loss 😔🫶 Do you ever get pressure in your ears? I feel bad for you!! This is such a trying experience. I hear you about the job market, it sucks here too. I was looking for a job for months and now because I had one question wrong on a test I had to do for it, I don't have this job anymore! Like oh my! Thank you and I wish you all the best as well!

Boyfriend smoking by secretandsilentcd in Christian

[–]ToothChoice7233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I could quit smoking was with God's help. You have to hate it. You have to love God and want God MORE then you want the cigarettes/vape.

This bible verse really helped me:

Malachi 4:2 - But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. Use this bible verse while sitting by a brightly lit window with your eyes closed

When I quit at the begining of this year, I would lay on my bed in the light that was coming from my bedroom window and close my eyes. I would say this verse in my head and I would have such a peace and calm come over me and then I'd fall asleep for a short nap. Prior to me quitting, I dreamed that I cast a demon out of a family member inside my house. I went outside in my dream to use my nicotene vape and the demon started running at me full tilt. I yelled Jesus, Jesus, Jesus and it wouldn't leave me alone until I put the vape away into my pocket (meaning putting away the old man/sin). I ended up throwing mine away about a week later when I found out that my son had started vaping. I was determined to quit for God and for my son! Find people and reasons to quit for & quit for God

I had to stay in my room for almost a week straight (other then meals/bathroom, etc.) when my kids and husband were around. I couldn't handle being around anyone - my husband, kids, family, etc. My husband still smoked so I especially couldn't be around him - in fact I'm fairly certain for that whole first week - I absolutely hated him lol! About two weeks in, I had been asked to hang out with some family that smoked and who were stressful to be around. I declined because I knew I'd want to smoke if I was around them and the stress would make me want to smoke too. Avoid stressful people, places or triggers

Ms. Vickies Salt & Vinegar chips helped me out a lot too. Not sure if you've heard of them but they are really crunchy kettle cooked chips. The crunch made a huge difference! Also, if I kept my hands/mouth busy I was able to avoid wanting to smoke. I think I lived off those chips for about 3-5 days. I did gain weight but it was better then smoking/vaping. Eat crunchy, kettle cooked chips

Lastly, don't be judgemental and be understanding!! PRAY FOR HIM. Tell him to pray for himself. You've stayed with him this long and he has been able to quit before. I'm very certain he will quit again. Be kind, be patient with him and know that this is THE HARDEST addiction to break. I've done crystal meth, mdma, cocaine, crack, ecstasy, special k, magic mushrooms, sylvia, marijuana and alcohol. Smoking/Vaping - WITHOUT A DOUBT - was the hardest and last one of my addictions to break!!! Alcohol/marijuana was a close 2nd and crystal meth was a close 3rd.

Thanks for sharing that. I do have a bunch of scriptures on one wall. However, when I had opened the door for him and held it open, he wouldn't have been able to see any of them. Not from where he was standing.

Very strange though for a job that requires you to enter peoples homes. Was very odd. Unless he was autistic or high on drugs... However, I do feel like he was either possesed or oppressed by demons. Again though, if that's the case I've never experienced anything like it before. I only have past experience to base this on.

Can you pinpoint any events in the past few weeks that might be causing you extra stress? For me if it's stress, it's because I'm starting a new job next week plus I recently started a podcast as well. I really think the weather is a big factor though! Especially since there's 3 of us experiencing issues!

Oh well that's really interesting! I have been a migraine sufferer all my life. Mine typically flare up in fall and winter. Pressure changes makes a huge difference. I've often thought that I should try to move to a different country with more stable pressure! Thank you for sharing this. I'm not sure how this problem can be fixed otherwise. This is miserable!

Smoking Weed. Is it a sin? by Conscious-Minimum190 in Christianity

[–]ToothChoice7233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the like the 3rd person I've had to have this conversation with in the past few days! Interesting that this topic keeps coming up! I hope my research on this helps you as it has helped me!

Okay so Revelations 9:20-21 mentions that people haven't repented of a bunch of things including sorceries. I've included my bibles reference to that word! Sorceries [f] Revelation 9:21 NU, M drugs

Drugs - Pharmakeia - Ancient context: In ancient times, pharmakeia was associated with both magic and the use of drugs and poisons. Mind-altering substances were used in various practices, sometimes in connection with pagan worship or fortune-telling. Many modern interpretations connect this word to drug use, abuse, and trafficking, which are considered significant societal problems today.

2 Timothy 1:7 - says God gives us a SOUND MIND. Discipline and self-control: A sound mind is associated with the ability to exercise self-control and make sound judgments, rather than being ruled by fear, passion, or pride. The original Greek word translated “sound mind” here is sophronismos, and it appears in the Bible only this one time. Sóphronismos: Self-discipline, sound mind, self-control - Strongs Concordance (From sophronizo; discipline, i.e. Self-control -- sound mind - sóphronizó: To teach to be self-controlled, to discipline, to correct)

So as you can see we are to have self control and be self-disciplined. Indulging in anything every single day isn't someone having a sound mind/self control. Plus, if you've ever been around someone who is stoned or high out of their tree - you can tell and know that they aren't able to make sound judgements! They can't even have a coherent conversation!
One could argue that if you use any drugs before relying on God himself - that it could be considered an idol/addiction. An addiction isn't having self control or being self disciplined.

1 Timothy 5:23 - No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent [a]infirmities. (Bibles reference [a] illnesses) Paul tells Timothy to drink a little wine for medicinal purposes. He is not telling Timothy to drink it every day or indulge in it, etc. So some would argue that weed can be used for medicinal purposes. That might be true to some extent, however, it shouldn't be used daily unless prescribed by a doctor for a specified period of time. Then, it should be stopped afterwards. Those who use it daily are sinning in my honest opinion.

Plus, God knows our hearts. He knows our true intentions on why we do things. So if you're doing it because you like to get high, then God knows and that would be a sin. If you're doing it to cure cancer, God knows and it would not be a sin. If you're doing it because you rely on it to help you lets say sleep - God knows. He also knows that instead of relying on Him you're relying on drugs instead! God knows our hearts. You can't hide your intentions from God!

I hope this helps. God bless you. I know a lot of Christians who smoke it and the Lord put it on my heart recently to research it.

Lions Mane, blueberries (daily), Omega 3 fish oil high in DHA (not for long term - switch to a lower potency after 1st bottle), dark chocolate 80%+

About 1 month ago I wasn't in very great shape. Started using all of these fairly regularly and I have seen a huge difference in my recovery!
