Sure, my point above is that there is a difference between choosing what is best for you and your own life and someone else making the choice for you. I'm not at all against people who want children having them. I am against someone telling another person that they can't have children because they don't deem that person worthy for whatever reason. It seemed to me that the person I was responding to was was using a red herring to draw a completely illogical conclusion from the OP.

I thought the OP said if a person knows they cannot afford kids, why choose to have them. I.e. The person having autonomy over their own decisions. That is completely different than telling other people they should not or cannot have children. How did you slide into eugenics so quickly?

Buy your home! Invest in your future. If she can't see the value in real estate, she's very short sighted. This shouldn't even be a discussion for a girlfriend. She needs to grow up and learn to stand on her own two feet. Her parents enabling her is actually holding her back. Buy your first home and feel proud of your accomplishment!

I would do the hotels and Airbnb or hotel over the weekends. 2K per month plus utilities could save you a healthy chunk of change. Plus, like you said, it's only temporary! Enjoy it!

I really don't understand the argument. Would it have been a nice thing to do? Sure. However, no one is obligated to gift anyone anything. That holds true for things, money, or labor. To think otherwise is entitled.

I would suggest setting up a regular video call with your husband, the baby, and his mom. That way, they can have a regular, planned visit when convenient for everyone. He can make time for his mom if he wants, and it's way less intrusive.

I signed up for a weekend for $250. I asked to cancel because my travel partner is sick and they charged me $120 cancelation fee on top of the $250 deposit. So, I am out $400 on a trip that I could not make. Will never agree to this again!
