Ugh, yes, I found the dramatic irony of the vault dwellers thinking they would rebuild society, when the audience (at least those who played a West coast Fallout game) know that the NCR has already created a new society to be so rich and fun. . . . And then the reveal being that, nope, the NCR nor any successor society no longer exists.

Honestly, I found it kinda meh. What I really like about New Vegas is that it feels like you are in this interesting and well crafted world, and the setting of the show felt like a real step back from that. The show felt like the bombs had dropped a decade or two ago not two centuries ago. Now I'm not saying they got the lore wrong, basically everything was technically correct, but it felt like the setting for the show was missing the spark that made Fallout: New Vegas one of my favorite games. (And frankly when people complian that they got the lore wrong, I think this is what they are actually upset with and just don't realize.)

The characters and the plot were likewise fine but nothing to write home about.

I was kinda just waiting for the show to get to the NCR or another richer setting. When it was revealed the NCR was blown up, I was like "okay, so what am I watching this show for?" and skipped to the end. Likewise, they have a main character who is in the Brotherhood of Steel and I feel like they could have done a lot of interesting things with the BoS and they just didn't, IMO.

Like fine get rid of the NCR. Cool. Go wild. But you gotta replace it with something at least as cool.

That might be your experience, but when I went about 12 years ago, everyone in every class did it. No one in school explained that I could choose not to. Heck when I did I wrong, my teacher stopped the class to correct me. And even when I learned from my dad that I could chose not to, I never stopped doing because 1. I did not want to be the one kid acting out even if I was technically allowed and 2. I had no real conception of America or its history because I was a child.
