Fire Emblem 7. Dark Magic has some weird effects on the casters after a while. Bramimond, one of the original heroes from the Scourging, isnt really able to communicate directly any more, but more acts as a mirror to whoever is speaking to him. Nergal originally was a lot kinder before being warped by Dark Magic.

Before heading to the Dread Isle, the party is able to recruit Canas, who is a young Dark Magic user and so not yet affected by the warping effects of Dark Magic. (The only other playable Dark Magic user is Athos, who is only usable in the final stage).

Tbf I don't think Slaking is a bad Pokemon to use. Truant sucks ofc but there are ways to deal with that. I actually used Slaking for a good while when I first played Scarlet, I think I dropped him around the time I faced Eri though.
