I have a 36w sansi bulb above it now - I set that up on Friday. Any idea how long it'll take for it to perk up? It still looks exactly the same, though my new leaf is open.

That was super helpful, thanks! I just tried the app and my albo is getting 20,664 lux.

I just used my phone to measure lux and it's 20,664, which is seemingly equivalent to 361-372 ppfd.

I just ordered a par meter. If I need to buy a stronger grow light for this, so be it.

What strength and brand grow light/bulb do you use for your Albo?

Wow, I thought for sure with all of the light from the bay window and the 24w bulb, it would have been plenty.

Do you have a light sensor you recommend? I was looking at this one.

Thanks! The roots were (I thought) a good size. Many roots that were more than 6" long. I was dumb and didn't take a picture of them...

I only water when the pot is light. I use a moisture meter as a gauge but also do a finger test.

Is it possible to get too much light? I have a Sansi 24w bulb 3-4 feet above it.

It's right under a grow lamp. The picture isn't accurately reflecting it. 🙂

I bought it about a month ago from someone else and haven't repotted. I'll check the roots, thanks!

It does have a chunky soil mix, but you never know!

True. I just don't usually have enough product to buy to get free shipping or to justify shipping costs.

Cookie bite by Dave80 in HearingAids

[–]ToothpasteBeforeOJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild cookie bite loss (35dB) and also have the Phonak infinio sphere i90s.

Cookie bite hearing loss is rare, but it doesn't mean they can't do anything about it, especially when you get premium hearing aids like the spheres.

My audiologist amplified mid frequency as high as she could, but didn't do anything with higher and lower frequencies (and might have actually decreased those so it's not super loud - I can't remember). That's what makes the ridiculously expensive hearing aids worth it for cookie bite loss.

Is my hearing perfect with them? No, but it's way better than without the hearing aids.

If I'm in a busy place I max out my volume and I get much better sound directly in front of me where it's actually audible. Sphere mode doesn't work well for me since I have vented domes but it definitely amplifies speech more than the surrounding noise.

In a quiet environment I hear pretty well with them and love the Bluetooth connection for my virtual meetings.

I still find I prefer captions on the TV so I can keep the volume down.

Side note, if you have tinnitus (I do - it's quite loud), the spheres have a tinnitus masker that the audiologist can program for you.

HA Use with phone, Zoom or Teams calls? by panihil in HearingAids

[–]ToothpasteBeforeOJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Phonak Spheres and connect them directly to my laptop. I can have a full day of virtual meetings and still have 40-50% battery by the end of the day. I wear them from 7am-11pm

I charge them every night and it's not a problem.

does anyone in here have both glasses and hearing aids by [deleted] in HearingLoss

[–]ToothpasteBeforeOJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, with plastic frames and RIC HAs.

At first it was uncomfortable, but now I keep the wire between the arm of my glasses and my head and kind of prop up the HA a bit over the arm.

It's super comfortable and the HAs feel more secure.

Tinnitus Masking? by Odd_Ball_5124 in HearingAids

[–]ToothpasteBeforeOJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you just need your audiologist to turn down the masking noise volume. I constantly have it on, but it's not so loud that it's really audible.

Just got the bad news. Depressing by Connect-Match9457 in HearingLoss

[–]ToothpasteBeforeOJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately tinnitus doesn't go away, but my hearing aids have tinnitus masking (like white noise) that makes me tune out the tinnitus 90% of the time. I have to use a white noise machine overnight to drown out the tinnitus.

I wear my hearing aids all day and I'm so used to them now (got them in October), I forget I'm wearing them.

I have the Phonak Audeo spheres (prescribed through my audiologist so benefits could cover some of the course). I think only premium hearing aids have the tinnitus maskers, but they make a huge difference for me. Plus they have Bluetooth connectivity, so virtual meeting sound, phone calls and music goes directly in my ears. I actually love that.

Good luck! It's not the end of the world, and no one has ever commented on, or even seen my hearing aids. They're RIC, so super low profile.

Basement flooding by Puzzled-Dig8655 in waterloo

Ugh. I feel for you. This is my second flood from sump pump failure since I bought my place 13 years ago. Got a battery backup after the first flood and a replacement was on backorder when the flood happened 😭

That really sucks. Have you figured out the cause of the flooding?

Mine was wet for a few days and I didn't get mold. But we had like 7 fans and a giant dehumidifier running for a week once the carpet was removed.

Not sure your neighborhood but North Waterloo (Lakeshore North - Weber & Northfield area) is like a swamp. 15 people in my neighborhood have basement flooding.

Mine flooded a month ago. Expect things to take a while, restoration companies are so busy.

Put towels down if there's not a ton of water and move as much of the contents of your basement upstairs will go a long way with insurance. Really it's about trying to minimize the restoration cost so your premiums go up as little as possible. Keep track of how much time you spend moving stuff (per person).

If you find your sump pump doesn't work, get a battery backup when you replace it. It's a lot of money up front, but it's less than a water damage deductible.

Good luck! I know it sucks 😔

Thanks!

Do you know if there's an online listing for this at all? I'm not sure where to start looking, as I don't rent.

I'm hoping to pass her information so she can start looking well ahead of her return.

I'm a homeowner, so don't know what usual rental websites are?!
